About Me

As a driven member of the millennial generation it has been an excellent experience to start my professional career as a field representative to United States Senator E. Benjamin Nelson. My primary responsibility is outreach to 15 counties and 93 communities in Northeast Nebraska. I routinely meet with mayors, city administrators, educators, health care providers, community developers, and other leaders to understand the issues they face so Senator Nelson can be a partner to help them achieve their goals. Working closely with community leaders has strengthened my interpersonal communication skills and has given me an excellent understanding of what it takes to provide effective "street-level" leadership that is critical to accomplishing a project.

Additionally, I assist Senator Nelson's constituents when they encounter a problem while working with a federal agency. This part of my job has given me invaluable insight into how a number of federal agencies function and has also helped me understand that agency's culture and what it takes to successfully work with that agency.

When Senator Nelson's schedule does not permit him to attend an event in Northeast Nebraska I will often represent him at that event. These events can range from a speaking engagement to a class of students or a civic organization to round-table discussions about strategies to help rural communities develop. I am deeply appreciative of the trust Senator Nelson has placed in me to represent him publicly. Through this aspect of my job I have been able to fine tune my public speaking and communication skills.

My near 5 year career serving Senator Nelson and the people of Nebraska has been an excellent start to my professional career. I have developed strong communication skills and a deep understanding of government processes, particularly as they relate to community development, disaster recovery, and constituent services.

• Represent Senator Nelson in 15 counties in Northeast Nebraska. I engage in proactive outreach to community leaders, assist constituents through casework, and represent Senator Nelson when he is unable to attend events himself.

• I managed a staff of seventeen individuals in three field offices in cities of Grand Island, Hastings, and Kearney. I implemented a field plan designed to elect candidates from the federal to local levels of government.
