With nearly 10 years of experience in policy and advocacy organizations as a web designer, online outreach and communications professional, I have focused my career on helping nonprofits, small businesses, individuals and start-up organizations achieve greater recognition for their causes and products in the digital world.
Currently, I am leading the marketing team at Brazen Careerist, a start-up company based in Washington, DC that offers real-time tools and online events for people to create and expand their professional network. As a professional consultant, I also work with additional clients to provide webdesign and marketing services.
I volunteer as Director of New Media for the global nonprofit group Young Professionals in Foreign Policy, a 5,000-member organization run nearly exclusively by volunteers.
Prior to joining Brazen Careerist, I spent two years building an online and social media presence for a research center at Syracuse University. For four years in Washington, DC, I worked for non-profit international security research institutions in a senior-management capacity. I was Director of Business Relations (and Special Assistant to the CEO) for a cutting-edge think tank where I managed the production process for all publications as well as all branding and design for a staff that expanded three-fold in two years. I was also Director of Communications at a nonpartisan international research institution where I managed all aspects of public affairs and strategic communications, including media relations, publications, electronic communications, and events for a staff of 65 based in D.C., Brussels, Cairo and Beijing.
I earned a master's in international relations from the Maxwell School of Syracuse University specializing in intercultural communication and negotiation in 2006, and a B.S. (cum laude) in political science with a specialization in international relations and certification as a professional mediator in 2003.
