Emily Moore I'm a college student living on a small income. I'm always looking for new and quick recipes to fit my budget.

Mehul Kar: I try not to think about the budget but cooking is probably a lot cheaper than eating out. $70 of grocery lasted me two weeks (and counting).

People like to point and laugh at "stupid people". We're not allowed to do it in the "real world", so we turn to TV to provide a source of stupid people to laugh at.

Penelope Trunk What do you think about changing your last name when you get married? I can't believe people do it, actually. I mean, you have an established track record in the workplace by the time most people get married. Why undermine yourself by telling people to call you another name? I have had so much trouble with my own name changes (people googling the wrong name, for instance) I can't believe people bring this on themselves. the practice strikes me as antiquated.

It had a lot to do with forging my own identity.

In a historical sense, surnames used to be a lot more descriptive of a person, which is why most surnames translate into medieval professions, locations, and traits.

Ty Unglebower They say that these days just about everybody in the workforce considers "creativity" to be the most valuable and highly sought after asset. Yet from what I see, this doesn't seem to be so as often as is indicated. I still think most everyday jobs still look for cogs. Robots. Why are so many obviously creative people out of work? Have they not proven they are creative, or is it not as valued as some think? How can a person prove they are "creative" in order to get a piece of this action?

Yes, it's important that management help cultivate an environment in which creativity is valued, cultivated, and provided a safe container in which to run a little wild. My comments about inertia definitely aren't an excuse for not making that effort, they're just an acknowledgement of the challenges we face. But as someone who is trying to help creative ideas and approaches see the light, I try to think of those challenges and that inertia as MY constraints. Though I don't think it feels very much like a safe container most of the time in this case...

And to better understand the various unpredictable factors: like who in the environment is identifying (or not) a needed change, who is aligned (or not) with changing conditions introduced, who (or not) is listening and communicating effectively at any stage. I believe this applies us all, whether we are entrepreneurs or connected to a larger organization or business. Change seems to mostly follow a jagged line, in my own frames of reference. Do you guys experience it that way in your own working lives? What do you witness as conditions under which positive changes are adopted efficiently and successfully?

Dannielle Blumenthal When a salad costs $7.50 without a drink it looks piggy to go out for lunch every day no matter who you are. Not that I am such a hotshot but I just refuse to spend it. Fortunately people forgive me the unbelievable smell of my Trader Joe's smoked trout in a can. Which isn't much cheaper actually. (It is delicious by the way and only 135 calories per pkg.)

I love sardines and kippers, but I know a lot of people find them repulsive, so I try to keep them for nights when I'm the only one left in the office (which is most of them) and need a meal.

As to the original question, I think the idea of having to eat out for the sake of social status is utterly absurd. Maybe in the past that was a legitimately useful signal, but I don't think successful people can afford to be that shallow anymore.

Vinnie Bergl During the blogging webinar a couple weeks back, the topic of hosting sites was briefly mentioned. As I recall, Penelope more or less insinuated that using anything but Wordpress is laughable. Is this common blogosphere perception? I realize that Wordpress has better commenting, and Wordpress blogs generally have more "professional" aesthetics. That said, when I'm directed to a Blogger blog, I don't automatically think amateursville. Is there something else I'm missing?

For those who are toying around with blogs and don't know if they want to commit, tumblr is a great resource to "test the waters." however, I have found that Wordpress is so much more powerful and adaptable to my needs in comparison to other platforms. The strength of Wordpress comes from the hundreds of widgets and plugins available to download.

If you keep moving you lose links and thus value to the all knowing and all judging Google Bot. Even if you move your content (unless you know how to do http redirects) you lose all the value and prominence you may have gained from Google or other people linking to your old home (content) on the net.

Stanley Lee On a second thought, it may make sense to post my question here to get more opinions on improvement. My friend is in the progress of starting a hub called "EngineersUnited." The actual hub website is still in-progress. However, it has its own Twitter account, fb fan page, and BC network. While the fb fan page is gaining a fair number of fans, thanks to many of my fb friends being in that circle. However, the activity level on fb and also on BC is very low.

JR Moreau I've tried my hand at making fruit smoothies for breakfast lately. As I suspected, they're not quite as filling or hold over my hunger as well as eggs, but I figure it's a damn good way to get more fruit in my diet. Switching to google analytics was really useful, because then I knew how much time people were spending on my site on average and what the bounce rate was. I also got better feedback about what search queries and websites were driving traffic. Simple changes really improved my bounce rate, too.

I recently made a grilled cheese you may enjoy: the main idea is to mix cream cheese and pesto together and put that on the inside of the sandwich with whatever else you choose. I used sun dried tomatoes, provolone, ham, and the pesto cheese mix for mine. You would obviously leave out the meat. When you butter the outside of the bread add a little garlic and rosemary to the bread and it instantly tastes like foccatia bread!
