Vikas Sah What book(s) would you guys recommend for someone who is new to SEO and would your choice be different for someone who is looking for more advanced information on search engine optimization? Aaron Wall book was good until he stopped updating it and moved to video training sessions. Which ones are good now?

Tony B. Nelson I used to manage a few sites SEO efforts about 10 years ago while working for a marketing firm. At the time we used Web Position Gold as a primary tool to register sites and evaluate key word success. I'm currently working with a couple new clients to do SEO on their sites. Questions: Does anyone use Web Position Gold anymore? I heard Google blacklisted them, is this true? I'm using SEO Book right now for reviewing positions etc. Any software suggestions to register sites to search engines?

They have a GREAT set of tools and other materials with their pro (and free) membership; including ones that will help you find new directories/sites to get links from, etc. In fact, I don't even have enough room here to begin talking about all their tools and how great they are. Cheers

Vikas Sah: It is best to submit your sites through webmaster interfaces. SEO Spy Glass is a good set of tools for rank checking.

Randy Zeitman What is the value of a reverse link? Everyone says to link but how many will do the trick? How much is too much to pay for a good link?

142 weeks ago from Search Engine Optimization

Vikas Sah: Links from site that have very little outgoing links and have high pagerank are of higher value.

One keyword rich text link coming from a site that is topically relevant and has high authority or link popularity will be much more beneficial than 5 (or even more) links from sites that are not topically relevant and have little or no authority.

Randy Zeitman How does Google know whether content is good? Would articles about nice cars help a plumber's site? (if it's about "plumbers' cars"

143 weeks ago from Search Engine Optimization

Vikas Sah: The content shd be relevant to what you want to target. If you have target term as "plumbers' car" then write something which involves both
142 weeks ago
Randy Zeitman: Right. How does Google know content is relevant? Is an article about nice cars less relevant than one about clothes (both contain "plumber")

Vikas Sah What do you guys think about the future of SEO?

143 weeks ago from Search Engine Optimization

Benjamin Kuker: I think we'll see an increased use of microformats that will be used to form the SERPs. However, I think the basics will stay the same.
Vikas Sah: With google personalizing results based on your history and allowing people to move sites up and down in SERPs, it is bound to change things
