Ryan Paugh I have a ridiculous love-hate relationship with coffee. There are some days when the caffeine jolt makes me more productive, but other days where it makes me totally unfocused and anxious. I'm trying to decide if I should quit drinking coffee cold turkey or if I should just drink it less frequently. I'm not sure if life's worth living without an occasional good cup of coffee :)

Cameron Plommer I'm thinking about creating a Facebook page for my blog with the intent on making it into a mini-community/forum on productivity, creativity and working smart. Any ideas about how to do this effectively? Or in general, what do you think is the best way to build a community?

1. Make sure you are producing good content on your blog where people will want to read it and share it with others
2. Integrate the facebook open graph API into your blog so people can share your content through facebook as you can access traffic
3. You have to understand that a facebook fan page is a page where people "like" you because they like YOU or your BLOG as a product. So focus on pumping out good content and driving traffic to your website first via SEO and Social Media before you worry about creating a community on facebook.

If you already have a running blog with a good amount of traffic. Follow steps 1 through 2 and you should be good

Then leave a link to your facebook page at the bottom of each post. I have a friend who started a business this way and his advice was to be discrete about it, i.e. don't say at the end of your post "check out my facebook page!!" Instead, just simply type the link at the end of your post. If people like what you have to say, they'll click.

Elysa Rice posting this question for a friend: looking to send clients the new "must have" book for 2010 (or at least recent years) on the best way to upgrade their business. I know Good to Great and TopGrading are classics. Have any suggestions for must have business book?

Beatriz Alemar: I've heard great things about "Rework." "Unmarketing" is a great choice for marketers. "Content Rules" so far is a great read.

Ben Weller Hey freelancers. I'm a web developer, but this question seems applicable across the board... What type of payment terms do you usually offer when invoicing clients? I've been using Net 7 (must be paid in 7 days), but a client recently asked for Net 30. Should I have expected this? Any input is greatly appreciated!

All of our contractors bill us 30 day net (which doesn't always mean that we wait 30 days to pay them though). When I was a freelancer back in the early days, I would request a deposit to start (typically 50%), or if it was a longer term project and couldn't finance the project myself, I would create milestones and request payment along the way. This would help offset waiting for the final payment, which would be 30 day net (or longer).

Torbjørn Rive This will be a great collection of people with ideas, ideals, and visions. And those with businesses already underway. My current ideal is to become an associate/sub-contractor for my current overlords as a side-business. If that doesn't work, I'm out of there in due time. Biz plans underway, but patience is a must.

They are perhaps a little insecure regarding my plan, but they're also designing a new associate structure to accommodate the work/life structure that is pretty much a reality today. I think they're slightly scared that I can have it my own way, but hopefully we can design something that fits both sides - and keeps me around and profitable to them as well.

I mean, for me I either partner, or compete. Basically.

Torbjørn Rive Let's see if the upcoming "season" puts consumer action into perspective. We'll never hear real, dreary #s from the media because America does not fail. But who's spending less this Xmas? This year I'm not flying home, and receiving and giving much less as a result. Both economic and personal there.

Torbjørn Rive Economics as human ecology: the same substantive focus on resources, and the allocation of them amongst competing elements.
