Chemical Engineer, Licensed PE, MBA - technically proficient, adept at solving problems and just "getting things done" - I enjoy bringing people together to achieve successful projects. Managed many multi-million dollar projects for new facilities and operations, as well as small-scale projects and process improvements. Experience includes project management from conception, development, capital estimates and budget development, through financial analysis and justifications, to construction, start-up and on-going support. Projects range from process improvements to regulatory compliance to IT/IS systems to complex multi-million dollar greenfield facilities. Most recently, developed capital budget, operating costs and pro-forma for a cutting edge, land-based, commercial scale, salmon farming business.
Currently volunteering at the Town of Searsport performing web site upgrades and maintenance and volunteer on the EcDev committee. Spent past 8 months in Oslo, Norway to support my wife during her assignment at the corporate headquarters.
Began as company representative on the Ec Dev Committee, asked to continue as community member after lay-off in 2006. Worked to help develop original TIF plan for a Brazilian clay slurry facility. Recent work has focused on marketing. I rebuilt the "broken" website in 2004, updated it in 2006 and again in 2008 and did a complete rebuild in 2010. Contributor to the "Business and Visitor Guide". Wrote and published the "Business Planning Guide for the Town of Searsport". Started and administer the Ec Dev committee email and distribute inquiries to appropriate resources. Started and administer the Facebook Page for the Town and continue to maintain current news and events on Facebook and the Website.
MBA Internship led to consulting project to evaluate feasibility of development of a land-based, commercial scale, aquaculture business in the US for Atlantic salmon. Attended course at VTI to become familiar with recirculating aquaculture technology. Collaborated with company experts, other experts in the field, vendors and contractors. Developed Building, Facility and Process Design based on Maine locations with energy comparisons to locations in the Pacific Northwest. Completed Detailed Capital and Operating Budgets and Pro-forma in conjunction with Controller. Issued Comprehensive Report for Director of US Operations. Collaborated with Controller for Presentation of Project Data to CEO. Project on hold due to on-going related project in the Canadian division.
Promoted to Engineering Manager in 2001 and took responsibility for IS/IT management in 2003. Project Mgr for new bleach plants in Searsport and Indianapolis. Sr Project Engineer for new alum plant in Indianapolis. Redesigned and rebuilt sodium aluminate facility in Searsport. Sr project engineer for new ammonium sulfate plant in Searsport. Built Searsport fertilizer blending operation in idle facility to minimize costs. Designed and built unified liquid product loading operation to meet regulatory requirements. Designed and programmed PLC based control systems for plant operations and for outfall pH control to comply with regulatory mandate. Installed plant-wide network, built, installed and managed email and file servers. Implemented multi-user Peachtree accounting to allow divesting of outdated legacy System 36. Built the plant parts and equipment inventory and plant maintenance database in Access.
Owned and operated small custom furniture business in VT. Designed and built custom Shaker and early American inspired furniture and accessories. Leased business and consulted for several years after return to engineering. Sold business in 1991.
