Penelope Trunk once told an interviewer how she became a writer. She lost her marketing job and without realizing it, this fact transformed her into a full time writer. Instead of looking for a new job, she just started writing. The exact same thing happened to me.
I graduated from law school in 2006 and have not been able to find satisfying legal work, or work that pays me decently. So I have decided to stop trying. I am relocating to Chicago with my husband this winter. The east coast is too expensive and our dollars will go farther in the Midwest. My goal now is to find a good job with benefits that pays about $50,000 a year and has regular hours, so that I have time to write. I don't mind answering phones or making copies. I was an administrative assistant prior to law school, so I could easily go back to that. I am currently blogging at The Brazen Beauty and working as an Avon Representative (not stealing "brazen" from Penelope--it was the Bitching Beauty, but I changed it because I thought it would be too "edgy" for Midwest readers...I am based in Chicago).
AHC Inc. is a healthcare receivables company. I am employed as a staff attorney. I negotiate settlement agreements and appeal wrongfully denied health insurance claims on behalf of the hospital.
