Hello everyone,
Just wanted to let you all know that the development has begun and I will be posting some updates here as it's happening. I'll be creating a blog series around the Virtual Volunteer-so those of you who have given permission for me to use your comments with first name only may see yourself in print! The actual keynote and breakouts won't happen until July, but we're going to be posting articles about this topic soon. Thanks again for the comments and please feel free to add more if you think of anything else!

Theresa Duncan I'm actually in way North East, Florida - but my longterm goal is to move to Gainesville. My second life has become there, and I love it. However, I LOVE my job on Amelia Island, which is important. Anybody in Gainesville in this group?

Andy Huston Is it better to start a nonprofit career in a big inter/national org or a smaller local one? (inspired by @DavidSpinks #u30pro #brazen)

A smaller NPO will give you more flexibility and more opportunities to be a part of the decision making process. You can also embrace the challenge of building a smaller organization into something larger.

The smaller organizations will not pay as much as let's say, the Red Cross but you will have more creative control.

Big or small, in the non-profit field it is more important to gravitate toward a cause you genuinely believe in. Non-profit work can be grueling sometimes, and is and should always be a labor of love.

TOP IDEA: Josh Swindle Thank you notes! Stop using your companies pre printed thank you notes. You know the ones i'm talking about, everything is done for you and all you have to do is sign your name. Hand write a thank you note! Hand writing is much more personal and it shows you care.

We plan on working with them in the near future, just focused on getting some other things in place first. I really like the idea, since I used to do stamping and embossing of cards, was a lot of fun at the time, but don't have time any more, and like the idea of still being able to do the personal touch without lugging out all my craft supplies and stamping for 5 hours non stop- LOL For now I still have some personal cards left and am using them- and everyone comments on how much they like them.

I felt strange when I found a commercial to be a beautiful work of art - though it's probably every ad firm's dream to create an ad campaign that is relevant, serves as a call to action to not only buy blue jeans, is timeless, and moving.

Thanks for reading!

@Theresa - Indeed, I think commercials are increasingly becoming an art form of sorts and there has always been a tension among the creative professionals who make them between their jobs as mass-marketers and their role as the creators of artistic cultural objects. Thanks for reading!
