William Bryan How do handle with not achieving a long-term goal? I had a long term goal of getting into graduate school at Truman State University. I met all the short term goals I set up for myself, but in the end I was not accepted. How do you handle with defeat? What are some steps to keep your positive attitude? I try my best to stay positive by reading motivational blogs or stories, but I still get down on myself and crawl into a comfort zone. What do you do to keep yourself aggressive and movitivated?

They'll think you want to work less for the same amount of money. You have to prove yourself, show that you will be MORE productive with a flex schedule. If skeptical, offer up a trial period so the boss can measure the results. Managers need measurements. Make sure you keep track of what you have done and what you can get done in your new flex schedule.

Justin Nicholson I'm a recent college graduate and am looking to make the switch from student to professional. I've come to the realization that a big problem I have is that all of my friends are students/non-professionals. Can anyone give me advice on places they went, groups they joined, and strategies they used to befriend professional people after college? Also, any links to resources or social networks I may not have heard of would be appreciated!

Sara Gallagher I just read a cool book called "The Design of Business" about the importance of strategic, design-oriented thinking in business planning. I thought it was interesting that Financial Planning was the primary department in which this book said creative "design" thinking was most needed. Authors said that financial planning was in need of a "steady stream of insights" at all times. This surprised me, since typically "creative" accounting leads to jail time, lol. What do you think?

My degree is in design and while I don't work in straight-design, I always think the way a designer does (or so I'd like to believe :). I think financial planning has so much opportunity. You see it with start-ups like Mint.com and other companies like Ing, but there's so much we can do. I guess that's more of a consumer perspective, but on the inside, I imagine financial planners are in need of design thinking... especially when you look at the state of finances these days!

Cameron Plommer Is there a point when a blog is no longer valuable to a blogger? If a blog is used at least partically as a way to gain employment, at what point does a blogger realize that their blog has given them all the opportunities they need? The reason I ask is because I see bloggers that used to be very active stop producing content or very little (Jun Loayza, Rebecca Thorman, Monica Obrien...). I see blogging as a platform that leads to bigger and better opportunities, what's your take?

You work hard to get to where you are and unless you're already making more than you feel you need, why would you take a step back? Also with this kind of content I say do two things:

Make sure your content is easy to share- make sure you have social buttons around your posts and on your site.

Try pitching your finds to top blog sites like Gawker- a repost from them would drive lots of people to your site.
