In reality, it's poorly paid (engineers make way more money than architects or designers), it includes a lot of long hours, a lot of time put in you cannot bill for, and all of the blame for anything that goes wrong. We rarely build beautiful models and we never draw anything by hand anymore - no clients want to pay for it. And our houses are usually a mess because we never have time to spend on them.
