I kind of miss the days (back when I was in college, when all we had was Friendster) when people would reinforce the kinds of nights they had had by getting together afterwards to talk to each other about it. Details were relived and timelines embellished, stories were created and developed, but all in all it was more of a bonding experience than even the party itself-- and much more fun and social than everyone getting up the next day and hunching over their individual laptops to remember the night's events through the medium of Facebook.

There is already this strong bond b/w your family members & u , and i guess at some level all of u realize how distances can impact ur relationships with each other. true that people are now substituting real life interactions for virtual ones, and that digital technology is eating away the time families spend with each other. but then theres another set of people who are embracing technology to do the exact opposite- like u they are keeping it in the family

Test your family business brand awareness

Some family-owned or family-controlled companies actively promote their family heritage, but many do not. Do U.S. consumers know which major companies have family roots?
burj khalifa tower
IMD,seo
a leading international business school based Switzerland, designed a test in 2009 to measure the public's awareness of family DNA in European and South Korean corporate brands. The interesting finding of the test was that many family firms were not recognized as such. Some non-family firms were even falsely recognized as family businesses.

Is this also true for U.S. family businesses? To answer this questions

I used to be powerfully motivated by the idea of being different from my parents. I've since realized though that there were powerful, worthwhile values behind a lot fo the life/lifestyle decisions that made me miserable growing up. I want a very different lifestyle than they had, but I'm more like them every day. That is, I've come to deeply appreciate their values and they guide me even as I craft a different life for myself. I think it's what they wanted.

Everyone has different behaviors and tolerances after a few drinks. Know yourself and be realistic. I've seen a few drinks lead to some great team building when people relax a bit, and I've seen it tarnish a few careers as well when people relax a bit too much. YMMV as they say.

Tariq West I made the really tough decision in Feb to leave Booz Allen after only 6mo. I am very thankful for the opportunities and relationships I had there, and intensely aware of how questionable it looks to leave a position after only 6mo. A month into my new gig at AKQA though, I feel very much vindicated in my decision to pursue a better fit in terms of personality, career goals and ideal compensation. Has anyone here made a similar move early in their career? Have there been negative repercussions?

@Ryan I completely agree and congrats Tariq!
I did the exact thing after a 6 month period for a new job and experience that I thought I really wanted. Even though it was very unlike me to do anything like that I have never looked back and have actually carried that experience with me to this day. Working that job and making the decision to leave so early has made me realize exactly the type of job that I never want to work at again...so it was worth it.
Sometimes we have to take those steps to know what we really want out of our careers. It's only made me more wise in my job decisions and has never come back to haunt me.

Congrats again and good luck!

It can be done in real time without servers. you create the space through the use of invitation, within that space you can exchange ideas, opinions, video, pics, create agenda and, plans. Yes I would agree we must deliberate to come to an agreeable or correct conclusion which may lead to a plan of action. This I believe will begin with Web 3.0 on which Goggle Wave will lead the way.

Ed Barrientos Judged a business plan competition called Pitch Dingman, at the University of Md over the weekend. What a great group of students. There were several excellent presentations. I think it's a fantastic way for entrepreneurs to learn how to raise funding and fine tune their business ideas. Wish that some of the Federal stimulus money would have gone to such competitions. Jobs created by startups are vital to any recovery. Has anyone here participated in a business plan competition?
