Not everyone has 20/20 vision, or 20/60 or even 20/150. And lower contrast is an issue for people with vision problems.
If something is hard for me to read, I probably won't.

I was giving my opinion as an individual user more than a web developer looking for issues that any user may have. I always try to keep in mind in any design work that there will always be a user somewhere who does not agree with my design choices, whether they be due to usability or personal preference. As someone who uses contacts and glasses myself, I felt the contrast on this site was enough that most users would not have a problem. However, I agree more contrast is always a better idea than lower contrast.

Tameem Qazi After reading a recent article on why job hoppers make good employees as opposed to those stuck at one place for a long time( unless they're doing exceptionally well), i agree job hopping does tend to boost your career. Spending 10 yrs in the same company myself, it was impossible to ignore the settling signs of stagnation, and the desperate urge to step out of the utopia to feel the challenge adrenaline rush inside you once again. Thus, complacency lost the battle.

Job hoppers make terrible employees. But let's put some meat on the term.

If someone says at a company for a few years and makes some changes over the years, that is just the nature of the employer - employee dynamic that has changed over the past few decades.

Someone that I define as a job hopper shows a track record of 1 - 2 years at each company across a long span of time. They have zero loyalty, are completely self-interested, work poorly with teams and bring little depth of content. A person has got to demonstrate that they have been able to succeed in the context of an organization over time and shown advancement.

They seem to stay for a few months, working on all the cool and interesting stuff, but when things get difficult, routine, dull or boring, they leave and are off to find the next project in the cool and interesting phase.

If you don't have the stamina and discipline to stick with finishing a project through to implementation and support, how can I be sure a job hopper is going to stick around when I really need them?

Tameem Qazi Its almost a month since i moved to UK. To improve job prospects i too got my resume professionally written and despite that im still getting rejections :) I havent given up hope though because a good opportunity will come by which has my name tag on it. But this proves that a professionally written CV isnt your ticket to finding a job. Its only aim is to get you an interview which btw is not guaranteed. What matters is to keep applying.

Tameem,

I, too, have relocated far away from my family for career and personal opportunities. I understand how hard it can be, especially if you come from a very tight-knit family (as it seems we both do). While I agree that family is worth a million times more than any career, I'd give you these cautions:

First - Homesickness is worst between 2 and 4 months. For the first while you are accepting new experiences and settling in. Eventually, though, you begin to crave a small comfort here and there. Then you feel frustrated that these comforts aren't available. Eventually (usually at about the 2 or 3 month mark) it seems as though there is no one who can communicate with you in the way you need for comfort, and that is incredibly debilitating. All I can say is that this passes. This time-to-homesickness is exactly why you are only allowed one phone call per month on a Rotary exchange - too many calls and the grass seems greener back home.

Second - yes, they are more important than anything, but be careful that the homesickness doesn't silence the part of you who pushed to come on this adventure in the first place. You are obviously fairly driven, and your drive will still require an outlet if you choose to go home.

I wish you luck with your choice, and I look forward to hearing about your successes once you get home.

Places like chambers of commerce - not only for the city you are moving into, but also international ones (like Hispanic chmbers), local MBA organizations' chapters (they dont' require an MBA to attend events), local business networks that meet, etc. From a social media: absolutely the way to go: join as many newtworkds (Brazen), pages (Facebook), groups (LinkedIn) as you can that cater to the local market you are moving into. Many dislike attending the formal networking because everyone is vying for their time. But they'll go somewhere close by to relax with the very inner circle before heading back to their hotel. A drink costs a lot less than a formal networking event.

Networking is undeniably important, but be smart about it.

I'm 31, but I'm a professional career coach and work with recent college graduates on questions of direction and career strategy. I'd be happy to discuss with you and learn more about your research.

What I've found is that most Gen Y folks -- maybe all of us these days -- are dealing with the stress of opportunity. That means that there are too many options and too many choices. I find that what gives people direction is knowing what they really want and where their passion is. Perhaps this was always true, but today it seems like a real necessity because only passion sustains the learning and engagement required in today's competitive market landscape.
