Uchechi Anyanwu Are there any lawyers/law students in the groups that regret going to law school (in light of the recent legal climate)? Or do you wish you did things differently?

Regret is always the result of a decision that could have gone differently. If there was no decision to make, there can be no regret.

Generally, regret connotes a sense of disappointment or deep sadness. And yes - you may want to do something differently. But if you wish you did something differently only to end up in the same place, is that a result of regret? There are things you can simply not regret, but if the chance presented itself, you may tweak a bit.

Ryan Paugh Just read an interesting post by a blogger buddy of mine, Kelly Sutton, who says that NYC is a better place than San Francisco for both entry-level professionals and for start-up business. He makes some interesting points. On the entry-level side he talks about NYC being a better social scene for young professionals. On the start-up side he talks about how crowded Silicon Valley is getting and that NYC is less risky. What do you guys think? NYC versus San Fran? Who wins?

You can live on the Peninsula in some more affordable apartments... or in the East Bay. The train and BART take you into the city from anywhere.

Teresa Finney: Never underestimate the power of more than one roommate. It is really the only way most young people can live here.

Ryan Paugh The whole nomad lifestyle has always intrigued me and I've talked about it here before. Today I read a post (http://bit.ly/9Bfyhz) from a Brazen blogger who is living the nomad life and they brought up an interesting thing that I have always wondered about: What do nomads call home? I think that we all require a "home" on some level even if it's just a cafe you frequent to sit down and write. So I'm wondering: How do all of you nomads out there find your feeling of home?

For me at least it is hard to pinpoint one place I call home. I started my life in the UK, lived most of it in various places around the US, have traveled/worked in West EU for over a decade and now live/work in East EU. My personal and work life have taken me to many places and I honestly don't consider just one as 'home'. I don't really feel the need to belong permanently. It is at best, wherever my heart is still and my head rests for that given journey in life. This is probably why i love the LIfe (location independent work life).

I just got back from a vacation with my girlfriend and my parents and that felt like home even though were staying in a condo that wasn't ours. When I'm with the people that matter to me, I'm the most relaxed and comfortable. Sounds like home sort of means the same thing to us, Rhonda.

Pete Collins Should you take a gap year before college/university? I ended up taking two "gap years" before I went to university, but I prefer to think of them as a time when I did interesting things, and surely that shouldn't be constrained to just a year? http://wp.me/puFgS-S

I went straight from high school to college because I thought that if I ever lost my momentum I'd never go back. The result was that I pushed myself through college and did not get the most out of the college experience. I think a year or two of maturity (in my case maybe more) might have helped me make better choices, but I don't think there's a "one size fits all" rule.

I've been alternating between paid work, volunteering and traveling since I left college and am know settling down into a 'proper' job. What you do with the year is more important than what you call it. IMHO.

Julia Kious Zabell Millennials Have a Leg Up On Happiness Having just finished reading “But Will It Make You Happy?“, by Stephanie Rosenbloom I got to thinking about the Millennial generation’s experience with happiness. I can’t help but wonder if the Millennial generation, largely coming into their own as independent adults during a pretty intense recession....(read more at http://beinvigorated.com/2010/08/12/millenials-have-a-leg-up-on-the-happ...) What do you think? Is it just us?

Alli Gerkman We had a primary election in Colorado yesterday and it got me wondering--how open is your office about politics? I've always worked in pretty open offices (in the legal industry) with diverse opinions--I don't mean to say we talk about politics much, but it's almost always been appropriate for people to acknowledge if they work on a campaign or volunteer for a cause. What is your office like? And does your online presence complicate things?

However, we are a small office made up of people who are largely close personal friends, so differences of opinion mean very little in terms of personal terms. We've known about them for years. We all do the same kind of cases,so we tend to have similar opinions anyway. I don't think anyone knows or cares about my online presence, but this is perhaps a different environment from your experience.
