Mariusz i'm trying to get my college to install open source web authoring software (aptana studio) to use with students. it struck me, that if they were taught to use it first before moving to any WYSWIG tools, they could produce more standard compliant and leaner code. Aptana doesn't work in visual mode, so they have to hard code everything. what do you think ?

VWD - never heard of, I'll have a look :) I still like the idea of Open Source though.I'd never think look for free stuff at Microsoft's site :)

I feel like I'm the only math-loving person who hated Flatland...I couldn't get over artificial narrative.

On the other hand, I really enjoy PBS Nova documentaries that explain physics in lay terms. A couple of my favorites are:

Elegant Universe

The ghost particle (about the neutrino)--unfortunately not online, but I got at my local library

I read Flatland, Sphereland, and subsequently Flatterland when I was 12 or 13, so really all I took away from it was the novelty and excitement of expanding my grasp of geometry... And yes, I'm that kind of dork who gets excited by geometry.

But reading it now, I look at it, and all I see is the commentary on Victorian society, and its drier than Dostoevsky... But I do still remember my childhood excitement, just not with the same passion.

The reset and base are effective and easy to strip down to your own needs. Fonts provides scalable fonts in all the browsers I support using percentage-based declarations. I'm happy with those, but of course Grids is the one with the most room for controversy or criticism.

Elizabeth Raley We're agile already, but we want to phase it out. Therefore if we have to shelf a project, we at least have something.

I'm a bit confused about the popularity of this methodology... I thought it was becoming big 2-3 years ago and then died down, now it seems to be resurging. We have been using phase methodology for IT development but starting to move towards discrete smaller work packages so kinda Agile, but still an overall project to manage these. (hybrid)

I sometimes hate to see RT'd messages on Facebook or #[insert trending topic here] because it's a totally different medium and it doesn't apply. If you do use this method, be sure to log into both from time to time to have a more personal touch (in my opinion).

Ryan Paugh We just added an extra featured post to the Community sidebar. What do you guys think? More content = Good?

137 weeks ago from Brazen Community Feedback

Stephen Evermore: Love it; it's the most valuable content to BC users. I'd rather see aggregated group activity instead of fan activity on my home page.

Rahul Mehta I find 140 character limit a bit stifling. Does anyone else think so?

138 weeks ago from Project Managers

Stephen Evermore: There was a good thread in the BC feedback group about this. Suggestions included upping the limit and better promoting the 'forum'.

JR Moreau James Bond likes his gin martini's shaken, not stirred. I like my work/life blended, not blurred :-)

139 weeks ago from Work/Life Blur

Stephen Evermore: A very interesting distinction, IMHO, that defines my preference as well. Give me bars of black and white rather than a field of gray.

Jessica Dickinson Goodman: I think my work/school/life relationships oscillate between a blur and a blend--cooking and opera blur, but Arabic and Solfege only blend.

Rahul Mehta Why is it that a PMP has to keep educating him/her self to maintain the certification? His/Her degree is for the lifetime w/o further educ.

139 weeks ago from Project Managers

Randall NOVAL: True, but a university is accredited by the government to a public standard. PMP is a private certification by a for profit company.

Werkaholic: This is the reason why I have (so far) opted not to get my PMP certification.

Rob Vanasco i like the 140 limit. it forces people to really think about what they are saying and be concise.

142 weeks ago from Brazen Community Feedback

Rob Vanasco: great idea Stephen. I second that. let the 140 characters be the teaser to the real conversation.

Ryan Paugh: That's a cool idea Stephen. I'll bring it up to the rest of the team and see if it's something we can roll out. Love the ideas. Don't stop!

Tom Guarriello I love Twitter's 140 limit. But I'm thinking the format is too limiting for BC kinds of interactions. Too much to say, not enough room.

Mark W.: and anything more than 280 characters should be a 'reply in forum' link per Stephen's idea above - 9/2, 2:25 PM .

Jay Neely Would be great if group admins could move chatter topics into an existing thread, as a reply. Good for fixing mistakes, easing clutter, etc.

142 weeks ago from Brazen Community Feedback

Stephen Evermore: Yes, or allowing post authors to delete their posts ala Facebook. There are issues there with thread continuity/integrity, but it's useful.
