Katie Perry So you think it's fair for employers to look at job candidate's Facebook page?

Spin it around: let's say the findings are *positive* (passion about a subject, insightful comments) as opposed to negative (unprofessional behavior). Is it then "not fair" to use the information? I think we can all agree that there a plenty of very qualified people out there who struggle to get noticed because they are unable to sell themselves enough in interview situations -- but their online activities can actually help their cause.

In terms of the negative stuff, I do believe (fair or not), publicly-accessible Internet information demonstrates judgment. Whether or not we agree with it, we *know* we'll be Googled by co-workers, friends, and family. So, knowing that, what does it say about our judgment if we put on a bad face publicly? If you're uncomfortable, privacy settings do exist, but let's be honest, many users are surprisingly lax with putting up privacy walls. If you're truly concerned with passing through background checks, it's a reasonable compromise to impose some self-limits.

Stephen Cullen Does anyone else have an N900? Of all the devices I have used, none of them had a web browser like this, I have not run into issues with any site and having flash is a major plus. Justin, in regard to the Droid, I know several people who have them, and of those people half have broken them in one way or another. The screen cover seems to crack rather easily based on what I have seen, this is not a first hand account, but thought I would share it.

The device truly is a mobile computer running a Linux based OS. It should also be mentioned that this device could easily be viewed as a work in progress with a decent amount of work needed before it is ready for widespread distribution.

My major concern with a cloud based OS was touched upon at the end of the article, what do you do when you do not have an internet connection? I imagine Google will have this ironed out prior to launch, my best guess would be that they implement something similar to Gears.

It's never long enough to be truly bothersome (although certainly annoying), and hopefully coverage will be ubiquitous in the future. Something as simple as an offline feature (like Gmail Offline or browing while offline), would work I bet. Definitely looking forward to it!

Stephen Cullen Android is coming along nicely, and I am eager to see how the Chrome OS pans out when it is fully baked. I would like to see Google Sync work a little smoother with the Maemo 5 platform though.

Jessie A. Young Stephen - I am somewhat new to Boston, so I do not know much about the political scene here. I did get myself started yesterday and will have to check your blog out for ideas. Thanks for the advice! Yifei - I interviewed at HubSpot! They are one reason I am starting a blog. Good luck with your effort - it looks great so far. Thanks for your wise words!

Jessie, I think you might have just found your blogging topic base.

You said you are somewhat new to Boston, you could write about new areas you discover and like to spend time at, compare Boston to where you prevously lived, or just general observations about the world around you. While this might not seem ideal, I think it would be an interesting read and it might come easy to ou as I am sure you have formed some opinions about your newer surroundings. Where did you migrate from?

My personal blog http://rbeale.com is about inbound marketing/internet marketing and sports. Good Luck! -Ryan

Jessie A. Young Looking at internet marketing positions around Boston - I seem to have all of the qualifications aside from blogging experience. Guess I should get on that! The question is: what to write about?

Teach people something you know whether it's meditation, marketing or studying tips.

I'd personally recommend against blogging about a heated political race. In my experience (I've lived in Boston 7 years), people are especially passionate about politics around here and maybe that's not the safest route when you're just trying to establish yourself.

Good Luck.

Stephen Cullen So I have been with a company for just shy of 8 years, I don't like the industry at all and have begun the process of the job/career change. My near and dear friend JR Moreau is always directing me to Brazen as he works for them. Today I have beenb reading through posts and this really is a remarkable network for moving forward in your life and stories like Esteban's are great motivation. Esteban, congratulations on your new found position!

Stephen Cullen After a month spent with my Nokia N900, I have decided that it holds more promise than the iPhone ever did. I realize that currently it does not have the app presence of the iPhone, but being open source allows for everything and anything to happen. I <3 freedom.

I agree on the power of the apps with the community, however, there isn't big enough of a developer community to make those apps yet. I personally would love to make apps, but still in the beginning stages as I have trouble juggling with other activities. Just wanted to give a shout.
