My parents were married in the 40s and as was standard then, my dad went to work and college and my mom stayed home and raised the kids. When she got married she thought this was a pretty good gig, but by the time I, the last of 5 children came along, my mom had decided maybe it wasn’t such a hot deal to be financially dependent on someone else. Given this she raised me to get a good education and to become financially self-sufficient.
In response, I worked through high school and college and earned degrees in both Finance and English. I started my career in private banking, but to obtain financial security and to learn from bright minds I went to work for a Fortune 100 firm. There I got to see the financial world from behind the Wizard’s curtain and obtained all of the industry’s best certifications such as Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter, and Accredited Investment Fiduciary.
I then returned to personal advising, advancing to run the wealth management shop for a large regional accounting and consulting firm.
There I learned the value of working in collaboration with all of the client’s advisors. After awhile, I began to feel constrained by how I could best serve clients so I made a decision to help clients manage their wealth according to their values and to provide them with the best solutions.
In order to do this I had to make some changes in my life to make sure I was setting the example for my clients. I also sought some additional education and completed the Certified Private Wealth Advisor program so that I could increase the level of planning I bring to clients. I then started my practice with Cascade where I am not constrained by the solutions I offer or the services I provide to support my clients in living inspired lives.
And while I serve a broad range of clients, in this practice I carry on my mother’s legacy and focus on highly successful women who need help managing their financial worlds. This means helping them bring clarity and purpose to their wealth while still honoring their husband, partner, and children relationships. And philanthropically, I help women and girls get to self-sufficiency so that they too can thrive.
