Rampy is a social marketing believer, blogger, researcher, practitioner and enthusiast.
Rampy's background is in journalism, as both her undergraduate and graduate degrees are from the Missouri School of Journalism. Growing up, she always wanted to write for a bi-lingual paper. So, she did. She wrote for a bi-lingual, bi-monthly Spanish and English paper and covered the growing Latino community. Seeing the community strive and work to advance a better quality of life and the huge barriers before them, she realized she did not want to report on the issues, but desired to play an integral role, influencing change for the better. So, she switched to strategic communications and discovered the under practiced, under developed, niche industry of social marketing and immediately knew she found her calling.
Now, Rampy has experience on grassroots, local, state and national social marketing initiatives. Most recently, Rampy completed a fellowship on the national, bi-lingual, Learn the Link: Drugs + HIV social marketing campaign for the National Institute on Drug Abuse, part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and is now working full-time at a social marketing agency in Washington D.C. In September, Rampy's research is also being presented at the 1st World Social Marketing Conference later this year in Brighton, England. She also continues to spread the movement of social marketing through her professional blog, SocialButterfly, where she hopes to inspire others to fly for change. Though she may be young in years, Rampy's passion, knowledge and experience are quite matured and continue to take flight.
Alexandra Rampy's blog is SocialButterfly.
