Understanding leadership has been a lifelong fascination for me. As I’ve delved more deeply into this intriguing topic I have discovered what makes some leaders great and others utterly forgettable.
I’m grateful my work in the Leadership Department at the United States Naval Academy allows me to pursue my passion on a full time basis. It is one of the most rewarding positions I’ve held in my career.
My current bent is on the component of leadership most often referred to as vision. It is essential to being a leader yet rarely discussed as an ability which can be developed. I believe however, it can be and am working to develop a training model to accomplish this.
In my philanthropic work I advise the John Rutledge Foundation.
The John Rutledge Foundation was established on the ideals of broad education and experience. The foundation seeks to encourage overseas travel, study and philanthropy.

Oversee department administration, teach leadership classes, supervise faculty, mentor students, provide community outreach for the Navy.
Advise principle on economic matters relating to the foundation, its future prospects and global economic issues.
