I did have a strong math background and was able to leverage that into a position in HR (calculating vesting eligibility for the company ESOP program.)

I'd suggest thinking about your strengths and how you can leverage those in a human resources department. Hope that helps!

I did StrengthsFinder 2.0 awhile back and I've given some thought to how I could leverage my top 5 strengths. I'd say having good interpersonal and research skills would be very applicable to HR. I'd assume HR Generalist would be my best route for getting in the door and proving my value.
