Lauren Shanks An artist friend of mine told me that if something is your passion, nothing can stop you from doing it. No matter what else is going on in your life, you will make time to pursue it. Is this the case? With the pressures of daily life, how do you cultivate a passion and find time to devote to it?

I feel like I don't have a passion right now. I have a definite interest in writing, but I'm not pursuing in with fervor, which led to the passion debate with the artist friend.

I'd like to develop and build this skill, but my day job keeps me busy, and I just don't feel like I have the time to devote to it. I want to be that person who does something creative and is passionate about, but I just can't seem to get there.

Elysa Rice according to Lifehacker Allrecipes is the Best Recipe Search Tool http://dlvr.it/7HQ29 I used AllRecipes a few years ago, then got out of the habit. I've just recently downloaded the iPhone app and back in pattern of saving and organizing my recipes in a virtual recipe box. The recipes live online until I try them a time or two. If it's a keeper I'll print 'em for my real box. What's your system for discovering new recipes?

Robby Chen How do I improve creativity? I don't have much creativity on everything. These days, I have tried to find some ways to improve my creativities. I found that listening to binaural beats can help, but it's ineffective unless listening through a headphone, and I don't like to use headphone. Are there any other ways to improve creativity? Thanks.

You can start by stop saying "out of the box". For one, it's a cliché; the opposite of creative.

Secondly, it's wrong. Real creativity comes from having to think INSIDE boxes, that is, with constraints.

Haikus come from a strict structure of three lines of five, seven and five syllables. A great chef can create a delicious meal with limited ingredients like leftovers and those strange, little-used condiments in back of the fridge. MacGyver escapes from a prison cell with makeshift tools.

If you have everything to work with, where do you start?

JenG Because books of poetry are published mostly through contests, even exceptional writers have low odds of success. I'm an established poet with one book under my belt, which did win a contest, and have a small following. My second collection has been a finalist a couple of times, but I've been sending it out for over two years and am getting impatient. Would you be more or less willing to buy a book of poetry that was self-published? What would encourage you to support the author?

David: Hey neighbor! :)

Lindsey: What did your followers say about the self published literary fiction? One comment my sister-in-law mentioned was that libraries won't take self-published work. I think a work around may be to start your own press and then publish the book that way. But ignoring the whole traditional paradigm is certainly interesting!

I know most of the info I used to get at the library I now get online (and I'm a library lover.)
I personally think that whether or not they take self-published books should be the last thing you worry about! You're cutting edge here--no time for naysayers!

Ty Unglebower I don't get much of a return in investment when it comes to networking. It takes a lot out of an introvert, and it's even worse when I get little to nothing in return. And it's not limited to strangers. I have about 50 friends within driving distance, all of whom are always invited to my plays weeks in advance, and not one of them has EVER attended over the last 8 years. If I can't convince friends to act, I'll never make an impression on strangers. I don't get it. It's not all me, either.

I can't explain what links me to certain people, we just seem to get along. But I share very few interests with my friends. If that were the requirement for friendship, I'd have only one friend.

I think it's better to have your friends not be involved than have them fake interest. That's just painful for both parties.

There are two things I would like to share:
1. Baring your soul as you did with this topic definitely draws people to you. They are saying, "Oh, I thought I was the only one having that problem." You have liberated the rest of us my friend. It's a good way to connect with people. Just be the introverted you that you are.
2. Give, Give, Give and ask, ask, ask is what Net-working is all about. I flip through my networking sites asking the question, "How and who may I be of service to." I listen to what people are saying and look for opportunity to connect them with a resource that may be of service to their cause. It's a start. I wrote about this when I meet LL Cool J (The rapper): http://bit.ly/bOJlqN .
Stay in the game Ty, keep showing up, keep being you and keep being of service.

Your Ambassador,
Bruny

paulmacp I am building a plugin for WordPress that integrates WP into a Facebook Fan Page. This plugin does use RSS, but is an integration between the WP API and the FB API. This allows for you do include or exclude categories from the feed and include graphics specific to the FB feed from the WP Dashboard. You can see it in action here ( http://www.facebook.com/paulmacpdotcom ) under the "blog posts" tab. I am curious to see if anyone else sees value in this plugin for their blog?
