Sabera (Kapasi) Photographer Have you ever taken a vacation all by yourself? Like really visiting a place all alone and being by yourself from start to finish (except for conversations / lunches / dinners with the odd fellow tourist). What was it like and where did you visit?

I have had the occasion to go alone on business trips and I am not one to hold up in a hotel room, so I take advantage of the time and go see the place whenever time permits. I enjoy the pleasure of my own company so I do not feel intimidated to do so. I've traveled alone to San Francisco, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Daytona and Minnesota - spent 4 hrs just in Mall of America alone! Whoo-hoo!!

Sabera -- Thanks for the different perspective! I hadn't thought about how Millennial behaviors vary from country to country. It would be really interesting to compare the do & don't lists of Millennials from various nations/cultures...definitely a project I would want to take part in!

Molly -- These are definitely my own list of dos and don'ts, and I'm sure there will be differences among different Gen-Yers. Thanks for sharing some of your own dos and don'ts!

TV offers a whole different world to people in villages, and that essentially is one of their biggest source of information and aspiration (although internet is making inroads in areas of education and agricultural purposes). It is such an interesting landscape :-)

Ed Barrientos Judged a business plan competition called Pitch Dingman, at the University of Md over the weekend. What a great group of students. There were several excellent presentations. I think it's a fantastic way for entrepreneurs to learn how to raise funding and fine tune their business ideas. Wish that some of the Federal stimulus money would have gone to such competitions. Jobs created by startups are vital to any recovery. Has anyone here participated in a business plan competition?

And let me say, I am with you! Becky noted it's not limited to any one culture. I think it's a common problem among women, as across cultures we are prone to take care of others before ourselves.

So far all I have is: pedicure. Total pampering, for under $50, no waiting.

I think we should challenge ourselves to take better care of ourselves. I don't know about you, but nobody is taking care of me.

The question is, what would pampering yourself look like?

For me, pampering myself is taking a whole day to myself and going into the city (DC) to visit an exhibit I haven't seen yet or something. Once I figured out what I needed to reward myself for hard work I made sure to regularly build it into my schedule.

Sabera (Kapasi) Photographer Can you give me some tips on planning a twitter chat? The goal is to answer people's Indian food related questions. So the chat will be one where people ask questions (to me and another moderator) and we'll answer them. Another objective is to generally meet people interested in Indian food. What is the best way to manage a chat while meeting these goals, without letting the chat go totally out of control? Where do I begin with the planning?

Sabera (Kapasi) Photographer I just gave the GRE last week and it was quite an interesting experience preparing for the test. (So happy I got a great score!) What are some of the challenges you faced?

I am a very motivated person and thought if I worked har enough I could prove I didn't need a degree. That worked for me for 4 years really well until I tried to push my career in a slightly different direction and realised without having a degree to back me up it was going to be a big challenge, so I bit the bullet and I am doing my degree. I thought it would be hard to study again but I managed to get into that habit quite quickly by treating studying like jobs that needed done at work. I have a to-do list of what i will achieve each day and I stick to it. It does become easier. The only things I miss really are having a full time wage, my free weekends and sometimes I feel a little out of place with all the students fresh out of high school.

I worked for a year before entering grad school but entered a very progressive college so didn't need an exam. I don't take tests well. Megan Williams Thinking of how to start a business that ships foods that couldn't otherwise be ordered (NY pizza to Japan, dim sum from Hong Kong to Detroit, Doughnuts from Cali to Norway). Due to the price, we'd focus on high end markets. I originally thought I'd need to travel to find employees in various locations, but now I'm thinking it might be a better idea to look into a model that involved "partners" in various locations...haven't gotten to the issue of shipping and preservation yet. Thoughts?

Yeah@Rebecca...I've already started ordering from places that have similar businesses to see what their packaging is like.

@Sabera: DEFINITELY going to look into flash freezing. My biggest issue will be figuring out how to best "restore" foods to their intended temperatures.

@Mehul: I'm one of those people that loves to cook and try new recipes, but there are certain foods that I simply can't make as well as they do in the place of origin. Beavertails from Montreal...xiao long bao from ShangHai...roast duck from Beijing...I've traveled to countries just to try the food, but I don't think everyone should have to do that, and I believe there's a niche market that would be willing to pay.

Sabera (Kapasi) Photographer I recently had a terrible experience regarding payment issues. I did what I thought was prudent - talk to the person concerned to clarify doubts. The conversation didn't go very well partly because I feel like I didn't handle it as well as I should have. I'm doing this for the learning and quite honestly, also the money. Been beating myself up over it. Have any of you experienced anything similar? How do you get over it and prevent it from affecting your quality of work?

Try starting with a clean slate with no preconceived thoughts/ideas or expectations on the first communication exchange. Listen carefully to what the other person has to say - completely. Write it down and follow it up with written communication, if necessary. The next step would be the use of snail mail certified and registered to let the other party know you are serious and you're willing to spend the time to rectify the situation.

The Social Network will win the Best Picture Oscar and I certainly not the only one saying so. Publicity hounds and provocateurs will say it ain't the truth and it's Hollywood and they will get ink - but it is largely the truth, most of the specific events and all of the messages are accurate. In any case it is both great entertainment, fantastic quality writing and directing - and of course a great story. What it may tell us about Facebook that is useful is another thing and not the purpose of the movie. Zuck is NOT the villain of this movie and Saverin is not the victim. Life and reality are much more complex than that, as is evident in the movie, too.

They are not looking at what a future employer may think at that age. I love Melissa's idea of the celebrity because they can easily see and envisage that. I think it's important however to make them aware of how easily a negative personal brand can affect you. For instance if they wanted to go for their first job at the local supermarket the last thing the employer would want to see online about them is them saying how much they hate the store for not selling them cigarettes or something. I guess my point is, they are at the perfect age to set up a positive online presence and they are the age group that is really going to have to grow up with the consequences of how they are perceived online.
