I've done a host of things since graduating from college. From audio recording for official legal proceedings to compiling presentations for Navy Admirals. There is a lot of opportunity out here in Washington and I've enjoyed my time heavily in the nations capitol but I have a yearning for learning.
By that I mean in the academic sense, and I am trying to apply to some competitive and innovative business schools in the fall. I've temporarily hit that quarter life slump and I need a general setting change. That and I really have no formal education in business disciplines. I am a beleiver that gaining that wisdom through great educators will serve me well in my future endeavors.
Would love to meet people jumping on this social media/networking wave. The new era of communication has arrived and I want to leverage it to my advantage. So I ask you, are you part of something different and interesting in Washington or elsewhere? If so, talk to me about it and let me know where/how I can help.
BearingPoint was acquired by Deloitte on May 9, 2009. I still work with the same Navy client and my work hasnt changed. In October of 2008 I switched contracts to work in a Public Sector Sarbanes Oxley capacity testing the material weaknesses with business processes and their downstream affect on financial statements. In a nutshell its internal audit work, our team reviews and re-assesses the integrity of financial statements so our client can pass its external audit.
I started my professional career as a court reporter when I was fresh out of college. Pretty unusual career choice, but I figured it would be the easiest way to get an insiders perspective into law. I quickly realized court reporting, legal services, and anything associated with law was not something that would keep me engaged and interested for the remainder of my life. Not to mention that this was not a career it was a temporary job. Turnover was rampant in this small business and benefits were slim to none. So I aggresively networked and fell upon an opportunity at the below listed company.
I worked for BearingPoint a company of 17,000 that prided itself on management consulting and technology services for commercial, financial, and goverment clients. Our primary market presence was heavily involved with the government and I worked an engagement in the operations department of a Navy command.
Loved my time at Wesleyan and the general character of the student body.
