I was contacted by an editor to write articles for a mag. We talked on the phone and she said, I'll pay X per piece. Two pieces are now posted on the website. Altogether, I'm writing 5 stories for her. What is the etiquette for requesting payment? Should I wait and ask for one check for all 5 once they're published? Any advice?

I'm volunteering for a small non-profit in desperate need of a new website. The website content will be maintained by non-technical staff that probably shouldn't be allowed access to edit all of the code. Has anyone found a good solution for this? Any good frameworks out there to develop a site myself?

Just wanted to let you all know that the development has begun and I will be posting some updates here as it's happening. I'll be creating a blog series around the Virtual Volunteer-so those of you who have given permission for me to use your comments with first name only may see yourself in print! The actual keynote and breakouts won't happen until July, but we're going to be posting articles about this topic soon. Thanks again for the comments and please feel free to add more if you think of anything else! 91 weeks ago

Hi everyone! I'm a senior and will be graduating in June. How do you recommend getting your foot through the door for non-profit jobs? There don't seem to be too many entry level jobs in the sector! I've been scouring idealist.org and it's a great resource, but are there any better ways to find out about potential entry-level jobs where I could start working in June? ANY tips for an entry-level job search appreciated! Thanks!

I often see things on indeed.com and simplyhired.com (it's my job to search for jobs, basically) and if the nonprofit has a website they'll definitely post there first if they indeed post like Blake said. Getting to know people working in the area definitely helps. And if you're already in the area, volunteering is a Fantastic way to find out about other opportunities! 104 weeks ago

It will add to your resume-get your foot in the door, etc. I'd caution you to shoot for entry-level though. If you're passionate about non-profits-a specific cause would be better---download "Tribes" by Seth Godin and go for it! I have a question for you lot: Does anyone know any good job sites that lists publishing jobs?

You guys rule! I knew of some of these but not some others. Thanks so much. 109 weeks ago

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get my foot in the door with Corporate Social Responsibility work? Those departments seem to be small (even at large corporations) and the positions that I find are far and few in between.
There are also a lot of groups related to CSR on LinkedIn. There is definitely a preference in these jobs for candidates with MBAs, but look at the job descriptions to get an overall sense of required skill sets. Maybe you'll have to gain that experience elsewhere and then move into a CSR role. There are also some fellowships out there. 112 weeks ago

Looking names of places to publish, process, aka where to get an editor, & marketing. I'd do a physical book & ebook.

Personally, I'd recommend Lulu.com — better results and more of the money, esp. if you can bring in a designer on both versions. 121 weeks ago

I was green--right out of college, but they took a chance on me because of my strong writing skills and passion for the cause: my nephew is liver transplant recipient. I've been part of the team for 7 years now.

Looking at an Office Manager position at a non-profit. Would it work the same was as corporate - "get the foot in the door" type of deal?

Arenzano is on the Riviera di Ponente, so we're west of the city, closer to Savona. It's a seaside resort, so hopping in the summer and nice and sleepy during the off season. We're near centro and have lovely local restaurants and markets. How often do you land in Genova? 109 weeks ago

I love those who work in the non-profit sector. I've been there myself - it's hard. There has to be an easier way to fund projects though.
