Robert Karofsky Among Morgan Stanley Hires at Deutsche Bank
April 2005
As Morgan Stanley's fortunes continue to take a turn, eight prominent traders have jumped ship to Deutsche Bank Securities. Robert Karofsky joins the firm as Managing Director and Global Head of Program Trading and Direct Markets Access and Americas Co-Head of Cash Equities. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Karofsky spent 14 years at Morgan Stanley. His most recent position at Morgan Stanley was as Managing Director and U.S. Head of Cash Equity Trading.
Several of the other Morgan Stanley hires at Deutsche Bank report directly to Robert Karofsky in his new role. Others head up trading operations on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.
Speaking on the new hires, Deutsche Bank's Anshu Jain, Head of Global Markets, described Karofsky and his group as committed to client concerns, excellent risk managers, and proven innovators. Jain also explained how the group would help the company develop a stronger market share in the North American cash equities market, as part of Deutsche Bank's long-term expansion plans.
Robert Karofsky and the other traders in his group left Morgan Stanley as part of a larger migration spurred on by criticism of Morgan Stanley CEO Philip Purcell. Several executives and vice presidents resigned over the criticism.
