I am a government veteran, both as an Air Force officer and as a DOD civilian. My background is TV broadcasting; combat documentation, training, and production; and Public Affairs/Relations. I have been a manager, educator, academic director, course curriculum developer, and am now a Knowledge Manager. I have been all over the world and am still convinced that the United States of America is, by far, the best country in the world. My job is NOT my life - but it sure keeps me from getting bored. My education and experience is broad and diverse, but it all relates to communication in some form or fashion. Life is good!
Over the last 16 years, I have been the TV Broadcasting Skills branch manager, the Video Production and Documentation Academic Director, the Course Developer for the Public Affairs and some broadcasting skills courses, again an Academic Director for the Combat Documentation courses (photography and video production/documentation), and now, the Knowledge Manager and analyst for the Plans branch. I survey all students going through the school house to assess and ensure the quality of the training, faculty, staff, and facilities. I also ensure the collection and sharing of the "corporate knowledge" of the leaders and members of the military's center of communication excellence.
I experienced the world as a Public Affairs officer (public, media and community relations), a TV production officer, a combat camera producer, an organizational commander, an Inspector General, and Logistics Director for the Air Force's Broadcasting Service and Resource Manager for the Air Force News Agency. In these capacities, I was assigned to such wonderful places as Hawaii, Las Vegas, and Alaska. I was also in Texas, Oklahoma, and Illinois. I served as a leader, an enabler, and a mentor. In these roles, I was a communicator, a planner, and a manager. It was a learning experience, hard at times, but fun!
