Ty Unglebower College did not, and has not helped me get ahead, or even break even on my life. I suppose nothing is 100% the fault of any one thing or person. Some of it is just luck. But college is billed as a place that prepares the unprepared for the world, through education and opening of minds. Mine didn't. Did yours? Here's my recent post. http://bit.ly/b8q4se

Also, the Japanese system REALLY emulated the Prussian system--the American deviates from the Prussian system in critical ways.

@Ty OK, so I was exaggerating a bit, but the basic structure of the university hasn't changed appreciably since the 1800s, except perhaps for the addition of professional schools, and the functions of the university still follow their structure. Technology and social pressures are changing the nature of university curricula and administration, but it is one of the sectors of our economy that is most resistant to change.

That said, my conclusion from this thread is that undergraduates need more guidance on what they CAN get out of a university education, in view of both its constraints and its opportunities.

I think everyone would love to see a correlation between effort put into social media outlets vs revenue.
As for the small company I work for, they do not participate in social media outlets.
Friends I know that have their own small business rely on Facebook and Linkden to generate new business by show casing their products. I have to say, it appears to be very helpful in doing - I can see comparing it to a cheap mans commercial on a slow cable channel.

It also depends on what your goals are (awareness, sales, recruiting, etc.). However, as television viewership and print media circulation continue to plummet, Social Media, with its unprecedented growth over the last 36 months, appears to be here to stay as a critical if not core part of any company's (large or small) marketing/sales efforts.

Richard Berlin Anyone with a PMP want to lead a small (4 People) project that is low stress, no late nights, no weekends? Job location is with DHS ICE (DHS/Secret Clearance a plus) in Fairfax near Fair Oaks Mall. Golden Opportunity for someone to assume a PM role.
