Ryan Healy NEW FEATURES!! - We just rolled out UI changes to the fan feed and sidebar. Now you can see all upcoming events and RSVP for them from any page on Brazen. We've also tied Groups to the Network Roulette events (see here: http://bit.ly/exZFww) so you can chat w/ the community before and after each one. Also, the network dashboard has filters so you can filter your Network Roulette contacts by event, rating and relationship. Would love to hear feedback... You like? Any bugs? Any suggestions?

I'm also not seeing a way to change those people that I see. If they must stay, maybe there should be a way that I can set all the good looking guys to be who I see when I log in lol.

Ryan Paugh I got engaged over the holidays after spending a lot of time waiting for the right moment. Afterward, I realized is that timing isn't everything. I should have proposed a long time ago, but I kept telling myself it had to be perfect. Perfection isn't just about timing. It's also about acting on opportunities to make your life happier. I think that's the same in our careers too. Spend less time waiting for the timing to be right and more time doing what you think will make you happy.

Ryan, Congratulations. Best wishes to the two of you.

I think timing matters some of the time when it involves needs but otherwise, it's a self inflicted thing we do. When to pop the question matters when one side is not ready to move on. When you're both on the same page, one day does not matter out of 70 years of sharing a life.

Ryan Paugh We did something really radical today and stopped featuring blog posts on the sidebar of Brazen. Instead, we're featuring trending discussion because all of the conversations you guys have is where the real value is for anybody trying to build their network. What do you think? Are you happy or sad? Anyone want to punch me in the neck? We want to know...

This site is too much like a self-help book on infinite feedback. I want customers for my flooring business in the Denver Metropolitan area! There, see how easy it is to state your business, and go on? So far, I haven't seen one single person in here who doesn't sound like a patient at a phychiatric clinic. For $60,000 a year I'll cut through the nonsense at your company like Genghis Khan raiding villages in China, if you want to hire me. Like what you hear? It's called "clarity", "sense of purpose", and "maturity", all of which seem to be lacking here. Just say what you mean, and mean what you say, that's all I ask.

Regina Twine I have a comment about the Goals section of our Social Resume. I think it would be great if there were some sort of notification that you could show that you accomplished a goal and it be maybe sent to all your fans. Or an email saying "hey it's been 6 months, how are you doing on your goals? Maybe you should update them" because I totally forgot they were there. Just something to think about as we start thinking of resolutions for 2011!

Since we launched Network Roulette we've been thinking a lot about how we encourage members to make more one-to-one connections. This seems like a great way to keep individuals with similar goals in touch with one another. I like it :)

Regina Twine Is there a must read book list for SXSW? I feel like there are always books that EVERYONE should have read before they go to a networking event like this. Any recommendations? #sxsw

Best advice I can give is to know where you are right now, know what kind of work you want to do and know what types of people you want to meet. Be as specific and focused as you can. If you don't know what you want to do you can seriously throw a stone and hit anyone and then come up with 3 horrible business plans with them.

TOP IDEA: Katie Weilbacher By what means did you find your current job? Every jobseeker is inundated with possible avenues: job hunting websites (Monster, CareerBuilder), social networking (LinkedIn, Brazen Careerist), and the low-tech methods (walk in & drop off a resume, job fairs, interpersonal networking). I tried them all, and was surprised to find that my new job came from good ol' fashioned networking. What is your experience? Did your job come from somewhere unexpected? The great mystery!

It seems that networking is STILL as relevant as the online methods. It's fascinating to read the variety of job sources. For anyone in the job hunting process, I hope this gives you some reassurance to keep trying different methods & talking to people - you never know if you'll land the right job through Craigslist or by talking to your neighbor :)

Sadya Siddiqui I dont there should be any posts featured during the weekend. I've noticed that there's very little action going on during the weekends, and all blog posts featured during that time probably go unread. i usually go through the featured blog post list to check if I missed out on some posts. During the July4th weekend there were quite alot of good posts but they kinda got lost in the traffic...

Regina Twine: I read during the weekends more than the week because I feel like I have more time to actually focus on Brazen.

Mehul,

You're right in that it can become excessive. There is a reason that so many want to talk about it isn't there? It's new. Social media/blogging IS news these days because it's growing quickly every day. It's exciting to be involved in something so new and undeveloped.

I don't know why you use Brazen, but I use it to network, and develop my career. Brazen is where I first started learning about how blogging could help my career (over a year and a half ago). Since that point, I've noticed a great influx of young professional bloggers. It seems to have reached the point where young professionals are starting blogs, just because they're being told they have to, rather than understanding why it's so important. That's why I started this discussion.
