Rebecca Corliss, a recent graduate of Boston University's College of Communication, is a public relations and social media professional distinguished by her love for music. Rebecca has dabbled in violin, clarinet, guitar and piano—and even began her college career majoring in music before her switch to PR. Singing remains her favorite, and she has been part of multiple vocal ensembles at both the high school and college level. She was member and business manager of all-female a cappella group Chordially Yours for three years during her time at BU, and she currently is founding her own professional group.
Her experience in the communications industry varies from her volunteer PR work at nonprofit organization JP Centre/South Main Streets, marketing internship at major Dublin, Ireland music venue The Helix and her job as publicist and social media coordinator at The Ictus Initiative, where she founded the agency's social media practice. Rebecca also has volunteered for multiple presidential campaigns, most recently serving as media organizer for Barack Obama's largest volunteer-organized Boston visibility event. Now finished with college, she is excited to start her new career in technology PR at SHIFT Communications.
Rebecca has been a guest author on Dan Schawbel's Personal Branding Blog and is a contributing blogger for Our American Shelf Life.
Her personal blog illustrates the bridge between music and social media, proving that music is a phenomenal outlet for individual creative expression that also connects people face-to-face, in large groups and on the Internet.
