About Me

My aim is to promote the behaviour and culture of the internet: collaboration, openness, generosity and curiousity. I am currently doing that from the perspective of a Human Resource Professional at Hope International. My focus is people, to help with business decisions that touches people.

What better way to tell you about what I actually do than with a checklist.

Well, I think about all things people engagement (not the type that ends with ring on a finger).

I show up at meetings. Staff meetings, complex meetings, lunch meetings – to talk about the work that we do. Cross departmental show-ups are important. Silos, be gone!

Related to my show-ups, I cross pollinate. I share best practices from various teams, industry. A wise man once said, “Eat like a bird, poop like an elephant.”

I listen. Applicants. Candidates. Employees. Managers. Often, people arrive at resolution not with the brilliant ideas you have to offer, but in the process listening, resolution is often self-discovered.

I execute. All high performing culture has a rhythm. Our people operating rhythm (sorry for the jargon), includes meaningful performance dialog, clear and consistent feedback (honestly and respectfully), employee recognition, meaningful work from organization’s strategic direction and opportunities to stretch and grow.

I help, or help direct. At any large organizations, its easy to get lost. I spend a lot of time helping employees with questions or directing them to the right resources.

I write blog post. Covering all things HR, leadership, engagement and sharing a few photos along the way. Hopefully they are beneficial for those who read them and bridge the ravine of mis-information.

I learn. Things are changing. Rapidly. We have to stay current on stakeholder’s needs, workplace competitive landscape, emerging technology. Conferences. Road-shows. Assignments. Education. Exposure. Experience.

I collect, run and present data. Help leaders with data-driven decision making. Each voice (or noise) is a data-point. I watch trends. Evaluate outliers. They all tell a story. And, each story has a lesson.

Last but not least, I dream. Some people call that visioning. But, I like the word dream. I dream about a great place to work. An environment where people are held accountable, yes, but more than that, people are excited, energized and eager to learn and grow. I dream of ways that will lead us there.

Here’s just a brief run through on what I do.
