Who am I?
On a personal level, I am an avid reader of both print and blogs alike and a passionate, idea-driven person orientated toward action. I'm interested in social entrepreneurship, location independence, travel, politics, activism, anthropology, and practicing Spanish.
On a professional level, I currently work on two projects:
North Carolina Millennium Village Project: a student group in the progress of raising 1.5 million dollars to fund our partnership with NGO Millennium Promise.
Department of International Affairs at the Universidad de Montevideo: In this newly-created position, I provide student support services for international students at UM, work on increasing access to volunteer opportunities, and create written content in English for the University.
I am currently studying abroad for the 2009-2010 Academic School Year in Montevideo, Uruguay at the Universidad de Montevideo. I also am student at the University of North Carolina majoring in International Studies and Spanish.
As an intern, I
-Am Coordinator for Universidad of Montevideo's new service-learning course, Seminario de Servicio Social Voluntariado.
-Create and manage English-language content for the International Relations website at http://www.um.edu.uy/internacional/.
-Coordinate and provide student support services for Universidad de Montevideo's international students.
I worked with Dr. Luisa Peirano, Ph.D., Director of International Affairs, and Dr. Fernando Sala Rosso, Ph.D., Professor of Sociology, to create a credit-bearing service-learning course aimed to increase student involvement in Uruguayan society.
The North Carolina Millennium Village Project aims raise $1.5 million in the first student-led sponsorship of a Millennium Village to demonstrate student commitment to the international effort to eradicate extreme poverty.
We also work to connect various campus student groups so that their efforts are more efficient and have a greater impact, thus amplifying the effects the students can have on and off of campus.
