Patrick Ambron Ryan Healy just posted about being grateful for his accounting background. Looking back, my dual degree in Psychology has probably proved the most helpful. I never wanted to be a psychologist, but the curriculum helped me pinpoint insights, understand cause and effect, and articulate better than anything else. So much so, I think it's imperative that all students have a heavy liberal arts backing. A "trade school" is only so valuable (you will be trained on the job)

I agree to a certain extent with what everyone has said so far.

But for me as an unemployed graduate for the past 6 months or so, I'm feeling pretty down about my Economics education.

I'm finding that I wasn't never mastered many computer programs that are very useful to know as an entry level working (excel, photoshop...).

The lack of group projects and projects in general that would give me skills and experience creating something (which is all you do in the real world) is something I am very frustrated by. All I did was study, memorize, take a test, repeat. I have great soft skills, but they only go so far. I need hard skills to. School did a poor job of helping me there.

@Patrick - Understanding how people think, respond, react are all very important aspects of creating designs that not only look good but perform a business function. Knowing how to get that across to clients is just as important. You have to know how to say no that will not be good for your business if you do that.

I think it's a creative idea, but with horrible execution.

Bloggers want to make money, and I think with more money, more bloggers would be able to post more frequently and dedicate more time to their blogs-which would be awesome.

BUT, in this instance it looks more like an advertisement than a conversation, which I'm not a fan of.

Advertising in social media is coming-however I have two main thoughts on this:

1.) Social media is about communication. If I wanted to be blasted with irrelevant ads at inconvient times, I'd take my name off the do not call registry and go back to watching tv on my tv. If you find a way to make your ads useful and maube even interactive-I'm on board.

2.) I have no problems with bloggers or sites putting up ads I just request that you don't have so many ads that your website is jarring to look at (ProBlogger-love your content, but I'm looking at you) and that the ads are relevant to the topic of the blog (Freelance Switch and Freelance Folder do this really well).

I remember explaining years ago to my little sister why she wouldn't enjoy working in the busy restaurant I worked at. Yes, It's good money for a Kid, but it's a fast paced, stressful environment, where you need a thick skin, and my sister was the type of person who responds well to encouragement. For instance, if you wear a pant suit and nice blouse and then realize your clients are more casual, you can always take off your suit jacket to become more casual. On the flip side, it's harder to dress "up" a polo shirt and jeans if you find out your clients are more traditional.
