Ryan Paugh Even though I'm currently living in Madison, WI I'd really love to move back to the East Coast soon to be near more friends and family. I've sold my girlfriend on the idea of coming with me. Her first pick is somewhere in North Carolina. My first pick is somewhere in/around Boston, MA. She thinks Boston is too cold + doesn't have enough of an artsy scene. I guess I'm not really sure. I figured I'd leave it up to the experts. Any thoughts guys?

Brad Hilderbrand Need some insight from you great recruiters! I was contacted about an amazing job on Wed and applied that day; connected with the recruiter via LinkedIn on Thurs and sent a follow-up note Fri thanking her for considering me and making sure my materials were received. What should be my next step? Should I get in contact again this week to see where things are or lay low for a bit and wait to be contacted? I guess the question I'm asking is what's the line between interested candidate and stalker?

I've also been planning on telling the smaller firm that I'm going to wait until the holidays are over before making any major decisions, so hopefully that will give me enough time to sort some things out and get a better picture of what all is going on. It's nice to be wanted all of a sudden, but this is definitely unfamiliar territory for me! :)

Cameron Plommer Hey everyone. I found this cool post about how Americans eat and the costs of eating shitty food. It's scary to think the most of the adult population is overweight. http://ecochiceconomist.wordpress.com/2010/04/23/whats-for-dinner-tonigh... My solution: teach people how to cook, and learn how to read food labels. For me when I read a food label and see that it has a ton of calories, fat, sugar and sodium, I just put it down.

The difference is that omnivore refers to WHAT you eat, and flexitarian describes HOW you eat. Subtle, but it was important to describe the change I'm trying to get to.

@Paula I love that article. I totally believe that joy is a more powerful motivator than fear, but not many embrace it when trying to institute change. Thanks for sharing that.

Rebecca Thorman Just read this in WSJ on how the little things, like doing dishes, can seem insurmountable when you get busy (http://bit.ly/9c2LSr). For me, dishes in the sink isn't a sign of how stressed I am, but how stressed I'm about to become. I happily get caught up in work (the "flow") and then when I notice my dishes are overflowing and a hundred other things need attention, it's like ka-boom! And my happy work bubble bursts. I fully plan to have a maid in the future, but what are your solutions now?

Sometimes a repetitive brainless task like doing the dishes allows for a type of meditation. It occupies the body sufficiently, but lets the brain drift into thought. Our busy lives today usually do the opposite. They engage the brain fully while the body sits limp in a chair. Not much time for meditative reflection. So who needs their dishes washed? :)

Amanda Christianson I have been apprehensive about posting my resume online, but I finally went for it and posted one right here on my Brazen Careerist profile! Part of my apprehension stems from the fact that so often, one well-catered resume might too-narrowly define me in this type of forum. I need a variety of resumes to cater to a variety of businesses when on the hunt for a career changing opportunity. Would be interested to see what you all do for your online resumes vs. others.

D Hey peoples. I'm a Dec. '09 UNC Grad, and I just found out about BC, so I'm trying to integrate BC into my job search campaign. I've started a job search site, www.jbdaigle.com, and have some targeted Facebook and Linkedin ads going to drive potential employers there. I initially had a job search blog as a tab on my job search site, but I think I'll break that off into a separate entity. Anyways, if anybody has any leads on jobs or wants to discuss job searching, hit me up!
