Hi there,
As best I know, you're only hope is to scour the contact us pages and try to email someone over there. Realistically, this may not get you very far, unfortunately. I hear they are opening a new office in Austin, TX to specifically help solve customer service stuff like this. It's B.S. though that there's nothing you can do in this situation. Facebook (and Google) are sort of the mindset that it's a free service, so people don't deserve customer service.

TOP IDEA: Robin Mills Lately, I have witnessed and been a "victim" of "bad" behavior from colleagues at all levels, whether they were at my level or above me. Whether it's berating someone in front of colleagues/higher-ups for mistakes made (minor or otherwise), stealing others ideas or just blatant pot-stirring for no reason, it seems like "bad" behavior is becoming more acceptable at work. How do you guys deal with it without taking it personally? Is this behavior truly everywhere? Any feedback is appreciated! :)

I agree part of it is about empathy, but part of it is about defusing tempers and disallowing for escalation by not playing into the madness (and inadvertantly reinforcing it). Of course, I would tell my friends (LinkedIn) what company I needed help with!
--
I personally think that this example is a good and practical use of the "status bar".
I would do the same, if I needed this specific type of help!

Ms. Browning,

What a wonderful – beautiful picture you have!

Issue one: Using the status bar for help.
Personally think that it is a good and practical use of the "status bar". I have a rather open interpretation of the use of the "status bar" vs. using the "status bar" ONLY for posting your activities. Besides informing people what book I am reading, it is the perfect place to put out a call for help / assistance".

Issue two. Using the company's name!
All in all, just the right thing to do. It also stands to reason, that if you are using the "status bar" for help, you have to be specific as to what type of help you need and with which company. The company's name is not sacred or secret. Companies are recruiting all the time.

Issue three. Is LinkedIn the right place to ask for this specific help?
In this case, LinkedIn is the best place to ask for this specific help. For general questions, I might use "Brazen Careerist.com", but in this case, he/she is asking help from people he knows on LinkedIn. Way To Go!

For travel to the east, take a single melatonin about an hour earlier each day. Allow it to make you feel sleepy gradually earlier.

Flying to Europe from America (6 hr we'll say) means:
With a normal bedtime at 11 p.m., day 1: take a melatonin about 9:30, and go to bed at 10 p.m.
Day 2: take a melatonin at 8:30 and go to bed at 9 p.m.
Day 3: melatonin at 7:30, go to bed at 8 p.m. (This is 2 a.m. in Europe.)

Stephanie Ok, so I've read that lots of people advise networking online, posting resumes on sites, loading up a video or two, all to get yourself "out there." However, how do you balance having an Internet presence for employers to see versus letting everyone on the Web know who you are, what you do, how you do it, etc? For instance, if I "scrub" my resume of contact info for safety, how do employers contact me? If I mention work I did locally, how do I stay safe from any random reader?

Nevertheless, at the end of the day, all media is driven by people who make choices about what it is and it isn't private and where the government cannot or will not provide measures to maintain a level playing field between those who own, manipulate and transact in data and those who are users or consumers of it, then the individual must find ways to fence in what S/he wishes to share with others. Speaking of Google, one can extend the analogy that since the Chinese government was bound to find out information on potential anti-government activists anyways, Google should just hand over everything it collects so that State control can be exercised with complete impunity. No technology exists in a vacuum and the rights of citizens to choose how and when to be in the public space do not stop because electronic snooping systems can be devised and set up without any oversight nor assurance as to the final disposition of the significant amounts of information it collects. We are not off switching devices that are either off or on the electronic arena. We are individuals whose biographies intersect those of many others in the course of our daily interactions. Which parts of my biographical experience I choose to share with others should be left entirely up to me and not to some aggregator of information.

I am such a newbie to blogging so that means a lot! But I can answer your question. When you are viewing your blog, click on "Customize" in the top right hand corner. Then click on "Dashboard." Next click on "Settings" which is found right under your blog profile. That brings you to a page where the basic settings are found. In the left hand corner, click on the tab that says "Publishing" then you're home free. You can add whatever you like in front of blogspot.com but it is subject to availability. Good Luck!

You just need some editing Shooting for one page is a good idea, but considering your abundance of work history, you could probably get by with two.

The first thing I've noticed is that you've given yourself a title. I would drop this completely as it can be very limiting. It will be more than apparent what you can do based on the rest of the document.

Also, the professional summary needs to be trimmed down. It should be a summary of the most essential skills for the job you are seeking. Shoot for about 3 lines. Something like: "Professional Summary: Expertise in the documenting and improvement of IT and Financial Internal Controls. Extensive recent experience with SOX standards for documenting and testing of Financial, Accounting, and IT Controls."

The other thing I would recommend is to drop your distinction of Pre and Post SOX in your work history. One heading of Professional Experience is enough. Similarly, while white space is good, don't over do it. Try to eliminate some of the skipped lines - use one instead of two, etc.

I played around a bit with the above suggestions and got this down to about a page and a half, but since I'm unfamiliar with auditing standards, so I didn't bother with keywords for computer based screening software. You can use that half page to add a keywords section or a skills summary or something else.

@Isao Kato: Do you think "Client Manager" would be a good fit instead of Client Relations?
Thanks for pointing out the bit under Glenmore Sailboats. I will turn it into a story. I was afraid that the short time frame would suggest I was unstable.
I will come up with some measureable achievements for all the sections.

@Kent: I totally understand what you mean about the implied first-person now. I will make changes.
Good point with the colour. People who know me love it and say it's bang on my personality, but people who don't know me & don't like pink might toss it.
I liked the idea of giving potential employeers some insight into what I completed for major projects that they can pick out & identify with. Perhaps I will reconsider the formatting for that section. For jobs I'm applying for these days my television education is mostly irrelevant, but it's a good conversation starter because most viewers love to get inside information about their favourite anchors like if they're nice or not.
What about if I divided education into 2 parts: part 1 = diploma names & years, with part 2 covering measureable achievements?

This tone is more in line with resumes. I agree with Kent that you should tighten up your education section as it seems you have not just recently graduated. I would place that section second to last. And, as i always suggest, you must have results-oriented info. i.e. you sold kayaks...what was the result? increased sales by how much? managed inventory... what was the net worth of this inventory? did you impact sales? impact organization for Glenmore? planned all meetings and social gatherings...how many? what went into your planning organizing? i'm sure you see where i'm going with this. i personally like the judicious use of color. good luck!

Lately I've been hearing several job "gurus" advising people to ditch the chronological order format on their résumé in favor of one list of top accomplishments throughout their careers. When you have a wide range of experience it is the only real true way to present that experience. The other reason many executives use this format is to get around the opportunity for a company to discriminate based on age. If you use a chronological format there is no way to present your experience based on what you have done. I have been on both sides of the desk and can tell you many hiring managers start by tallying the years of experience rather than what the candidate can bring to the table.

The layout says many things about the author, and the impress I get even before reading the content is that you are an organized person with a professional attitude.

The most visibly striking part, the first three lines, is dedicated to your contact information and I think you can put something more substantial there - like a tagline - to attract potential employer (maybe that is where the tailored message for each prospective employer goes?)

Your employment history is written in an achievement-oriented style and that's terrific. Maybe you can reflect that style onto your Objective corner too.

Good luck!
