David Spinks Where do you draw the line in being "professional" vs being friendly and cool in emails? It changes for me based on who I'm talking to. I always think about it. If I'm too formal, will it make me look like a stiff? If I'm too casual, will that come across as disrespectful? What's your take?

Then again, when I think of a professional email, I think proper sentence structure and punctuation use. You don't need to fall into the trap of using big fancy words and going on forever to be professional. Address your recipient, say what needs saying, then be done with it.

Constant communication with that person helps me understand more about their expectaions.
