I am about to finish the book the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. Having read lots of books published during the latest decade, I found books like the 7 Habits are real classics. It inspires me to search for the timeless principles and write my own scripts of integrity, victory and interdependence. I also learned to "be efficient with things, but effective with people." Now I place relationships higher than business, and strive for win-win in almost all situations. Have you read this book?

I just finished those 2 and am also reading Druecker's "Essential Essays" - which is equally brilliant. His chapter 9, on management and dealing with people (and the utmost importance he places on putting people in the right roles within an organization) is something I will always strive for as I work through various business positions.

Everything we read takes its place in our collective knowledge and enhances our choices. How great is that!

TOP IDEA: Niki Nachappa Isn't a MW of energy saved better than a extra MW generated? A MW saved leads to a more efficient system while an extra MW only taxes the environment more. Given this do you think energy efficiency gets enough attention at the workplace and market as green sources do?

Niki Nachappa I am reading "The Time Paradigm" by Phil Zimbardo and John Boyd. The books explains our often unrecognizable bias to either the past, present or the future. Its very enlightening read while also extremely helpful in understanding ourselves better. Any other fans of the book out there?

Megan Atkinson FOX TV released some cast videos via shows (i.e. House MD, Bones) on Facebook in spirit of Earth Day coming up. Idea: to have all of our 15+ offices compile videos featuring staff sharing their favorite "factoids" about eco-friendly things like recycling, saving energy, composting, etc. We could then have the executive team choose their favorite video and the winner would receive the company's annual environmental stewardship core value award. Your thoughts - fun, cheesy? http://bit.ly/eBVFwJ

Megan Atkinson: Note: This would be an effort to increase employee engagement in the company's sustainability priorities.

Most often when we aren't being eco friendly its not because we are don't care but its the inertia of habit. How about giving your staff a week to do something i.e apply their favorite factoid?
Some examples would be:
Measuring the savings from turning off lights or altering the thermostats for a week.
Replacing lights with LED lamps.

Niki Nachappa Just finished "The Reluctant Fundamentalist". I found read interesting but the monologue a little taxing. That apart the end was rather abrupt. Content wise i do understand and appreciate the author's insight into such radical transformations of personality. I'm happy i read the book :)
