Nicolle Merrill Hello North American Recruiting Team! I'm conducting some informal research on employer perspectives towards study abroad. Given that you are a global company, what skills do you think entry-level applicants with study abroad or international internship experience bring to the job? How should potential candidates frame their international experience to make it relevant to your company? Any thoughts, positive or negative, about study abroad are also welcome. Thank you!

Will generally have a better sense of international communities/business and how they are interrelated. When you are abroad, try to volunteer/work/consider and internships and meet as many international people as possible

It has also opened my eyes to how many Americans make huge mistakes when dealing with other cultures if they are new to the international business landscape.

Ryan Paugh Should you need an MBA to do Social Media Marketing? Brands seem to think yes while agencies are saying no. Check out this post and let me know what you think >> http://bit.ly/c0iDj0 I tend to think that while an MBA can be useful it's the real-world application of social media that's going to make a marketer good or bad. Experience is what counts most and it's difficult to learn that kind of stuff from a text book.

Vickie Elmer Greetings, I'm developing a series of job search tips for teens, as an offshoot of my business, which hires a handful of teens in the summer and supports youth and educational charities. What's the best piece of advice you'd give a 16- or 17-year-old who wants a summer job in a small entrepreneurial company? And what's the biggest mistake a teen can make in seeking a job?

Research companies/orgs you want to work for, write them with an overview of your goals and link to social resume. Write as many as possible until they get one ... The first thing I ever learned in Sales... It never hurts to ask.

Also, make sure they check all their privacy settings on Facebook/Myspace so inquiring HR staff can't see it.

Nicolle Merrill Hey new media fanatics! I've launched a social media survey for university admissions to gain insight into social media use in international student recruiting (yes, it's a mouthful!) It's a niche area, but a relevant and timely topic for the international higher ed industry. If you have contacts in university admissions, I would be mucho appreciative if you'd pass this link along! http://j.mp/btSMdh (link to our blog, background on survey, link to survey) Cheers!
