The first question people usually ask when they meet someone new is, "so, what do you do?" I do a lot of things. Several earn me money. Many more don't. So I struggle to answer the question.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota in 2004 with a degree in Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature I moved back to my hometown of Madison. Since then I've worked as a karate instructor, marketing assistant, phone order processor, office manager, cooking school assistant, massage therapist, program manager, and barista.
Last summer I quit my job, gave up my apartment, sold most of my belongings, and moved to Denver, CO. I got a new job and a new apartment, but gave both of them up after six months to travel across Texas on a bike tour as a Soigneur for the riders. Now I'm back in town, and have decided it's time to be self-employed. I'm freelance writing and working on starting my own wedding planning business.
My interests are wide and varied. I love meeting new people and learning what they are passionate about. Given the option, I will almost always choose to be outdoors and/or doing anything that involves music.
www.onlythecurious.com is my blog on life, culture, and my efforts to become self-employed and location independent.
www.nicolerelyea.com is my freelance writing website.

I have primarily written feature articles for Wisconsin Woman Magazine and news items for Martial Arts Professional. I recently started writing for Examiner.com as the Denver Highlands Wedding Planning Examiner, and am seeking additional freelance work as well.
