Nicola Reynolds Just started Ha Jin's 'Waiting'. Apparently a Romeo & Juliet-esque story set during the Chinese Cultural Revolution. I'm an Asia-inspired literature nerd, so would love to hear any suggestions to get my paws on.

Nicola Reynolds Just read Taichi Yamada's 'Strangers' - can honestly say it's one of the best books I've ever read. Very atmospheric, got swept away into the city surroundings and the feelings of loneliness, compelling to say the least. I was particularly impressed by how the book makes you question the events that take place and whether they are a figment of the central character's imagination or really occurring. And a twist at the end! Am looking forward to reading more of Yamada's work.

Eric: I rather liked "The Housekeeper and the Professor" - Yoko Ogawa. Deceptively simple - very warm feeling to it.

I'm still in two halves as to whether I actually liked this book or not, weeks after reading it!
Very bizarre. I felt compelled to read it start to finish, maybe due to it being an oddity.
