Vincent Are there any fans of the BBC-A show "Being Human" here? I liken it to Buffy the Vampire Slayer with grown ups who all sound like Giles. It's been one of my favorite vampire/supernatural type shows since Buffy. I've tried "True Blood" but it lacks the wit and humor.

Hey Vincent,
Glad you liked it! I believe the first three were set as mini-series, but the BBC will be doing season (series?) 2 of the show after all. Don't know when it starts though, but I'm really excited about it!

Nechiele Whittington Does anyone have any recommendations for a good realtor/real estate agent in the Buffalo area? I'm relocating for a new position and am looking for a decent rental that won't cost an arm and a leg, will allow pets (two cats) and where I won't get gacked in the parking lot for props after dark. Looking to move in by the week of November 8, 2010 (I know, not a lot of time). Thanks!

Nechiele Whittington I can't offer a cerebral book review since I've filled my head with fluff (as a calming mechanism). I just finished John Saul's "House of Reckoning". It started out really good and then, somewhere in the middle...BLAMMO! It got a little lost. I usually really dig Saul's work. This one, I'm giving 3 out of 5 stars though. The potential was there, it just kind of fizzled out a bit...

Nonetheless I had to read to the end (somewhat compulsively) but wasn't nearly as impressed at the start!

Hey Vincent,

This season's Psych is starting to shape up better. The chemistry between the cast is still awesome. I like that they haven't tried to change Lassiter too much and it looks like they're veering away from the whole Shawn/Juliette weird love thing.

Are you also a fan of White Collar, Burn Notice, Royal Pains and Covert Affairs? I've also found myself drawn to the TNT show Memphis Beat.

I think they've done a good job with developing the characters.

White Collar is one of those shows I really enjoy when I watch but haven't made an active effort to follow. It's a little off from the shows you mentioned but have you seen Haven? It's on the SyFy channel... sort of a supernatural detective story.

Ty Unglebower Last night, 650 voters in the city in which I live (pop. 8,000 or so) elected a 21 year old college student that still lives with his mother to the city council. Many who have written about him say he is very "nice and well spoken" and that he does volunteer work. Others say he can't possibly have enough life experience for this job. But what do you think? In general, can any 21 year college student really have enough life knowledge to be good on a city council?

I certainly think that he could offer a whole new/fresh perspective to the city council. He's not tied into the general mode of thinking that's prevailed there until now. He's got the added bonus of being an 'empty vessel' so to speak; the new concepts, theories and ideas he's studied, he can see innovative ways to implement them. Besides, the age shouldn't be the only thing he's judged on. Some young people I know have more life experience than people twice their age. If he's impressive enough for people to actively vote him into public office, he must have something to offer that the voters feel they need.

Nechiele Whittington I'm an admin professional looking to enter fully into the IT field (especially in the support and/or forensics arenas). I currently live close to Cleveland, OH but am actively looking to self-relocate to another area (the highest desired locales are the DC/VA/MD metro area, CA or WA). Unfortunately, I can't do that until I have a viable job opportunity in one of the selected areas. Is there anyone looking for an admin/IT support person with a quirky sense of humor and a desire to work hard?

Ty Unglebower I have decided that that reading an entire bad novel that you thought would be good is like finally getting kissed on the mouth by someone about 2 weeks AFTER your crush on her ended. You think you should still be able to pull some joy out of it, but really you just end up feeling drained, disappointed, a little bit sad and just the slightest bit sick. I just finished "The Geographer's Library" and I feel like I had a bad fling with the wrong person...eeeh.

When a book is at, say, alert level orange, I think it's perfectly fair to flip ahead and see if the book is going anywhere. Nechiele Whittington So, who's following "The IT Crowd" in its fourth season on BBC TV? My husband introduced me to it and I must say, I can't get enough of the thing! Friends that watch it often compare me to Moss on my good days...I'm not sure if this is good or bad. Especially since I can usually be heard muttering Roy's punchline "Hallo, IT. Have you tried turning it off and on again?!" to myself as I run through my day. So, any other "The IT Crowd" fans here?

My thoughts:

I got an Astak E-Book reader for the following reasons:

1) Battery life can be measured in weeks, as opposed to hours for the iPad

2) Integrated SD card reader, unlike the iPad and the Kindle

4) 16 Gb SD card capacity, as opposed to none for the iPad or the Kindle

5) Can read CHM format (which comprises half my ebook collection) as opposed to the iPad and Kindle that can't.

6) $199.95 as opposed to $259 for a Kindle DX and $499 for the iPad.

7) Weighs 210 grams as opposed to 680 grams for the iPad Wi-Fi and 540 grams for the Kindle DX.

In the end, I want something to read ebooks. I don't need Wi-Fi, 3G, a digital camera, an MP3 or movie player, or other applications that are running on a moble phone OS.

Carlita Pitts Resume advice. I was speaking with a friend regarding long distance job hunting and she said that she received job offers in NYC (moving to NYC from Florida) by completely removing her home address and adding her website & social media pages. She also used a google phone number with an NYC area code and used that as the contact number on her resume. I am thinking of using this strategy to relocate instead of using a friends' address. What would be the pros and cons of using this strategy?
