Amanda Gunter I know I need to network to help me find my next career and I've already joined some Network Roulettes here on Brazen and joined a book club but does anyone have any advice on how to network when you're new in town and don't know anyone? Thanks for reading!

I moved from Canada to San Francisco in my mid 30's and felt the impact of having to network for the first time in years and it was overwhelming and scary. I missed the familiarity of knowing where things were and who to go to for help on top of trying to create work and a new life.
I wish you every success and the fact that you are reaching out for help shows me you will accomplish it!

Natalie Jones Hi, I graduated from university last year and just completed a year of volunteer service in the Bronx. I have been applying to jobs in the nonprofit sector for a few months now and have only received a few responses. I would greatly appreciate any tips or suggestions anyone would have as to how to improve it. Thank you! https://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=1El4e0b7mmJXLiqVhnHWyVbomnrvsn7...

There are always tweaks (and plain old preferences that you can't get too worked up about.) The other big question I have though: how are you looking for the jobs? Make sure to be networking...if you're only answering online ads, you're already at a disadvantage. (Not that you shouldn't try...just don't limit yourself.)

Daniel P. Bowen Hey New Yorkers! I'm looking for guest posters (kind of) in NY! As part of my blog re-launch I'm challenging people in various cities to do fun things on a frugal budget and I need fun people to accept the Young and Frugal challenge in NY! The premise is simple, I send out the guidelines, you fulfill the challenge and do a writeup. I'll post it and put you up against other people within NY. Then all the readers can vote on a winner to receive cash reimbursement! Are you up for the challenge?

Natalie Jones I'm also a current volunteer, however an Augustinian one. I'm working in the Bronx as the Activities & Education Coordinator at Siena House, a homeless shelter for pregnant women & infants. My time here so far has only increased my desire to enter the nonprofit sector and start a career where I can address social justice issues such as poverty, hunger, homelessness & immigration reform.
