TOP IDEA: Dain Where do you get your inspiration? I would say I get mine from the enjoyment of learning and the excitement of developing new ideas/tasks

Being hungry motivates me to make dinner, but being tired of spaghetti inspires me to create new recipes.
So motivation causes you to "do." Inspiration causes you to create.

Personally, I'm a tinkerer and things not working the way I believe they should inspires me to create solutions.

I love 'fixing' things to improve them and make them better.

Berrak S. We're working on a Team Brazen blog and I'd love your input on Grad School vs. Real World Experience. This is something I'm battling with as well: If I have the real world experience, is it necessary for me to go to grad school? Will it enhance my chances of moving forward in my career? What do you guys think? What's been your experience?

However I would say that about 80-90% of what I have learned in most classes (undergrad, grad, misc. courses etc) was useless. What has been more important is the credibility that the letters after my name has afforded me.

Rebecca Thorman I am REALLY excited today because I am officially credit card debt-free! It's all paid off and I'm pretty proud of myself. My next step was going to be to pay off my student loans (which have very low interest rates) or maybe my car (which I think has a 6% interest rate), or instead, re-build my emergency fund and then start donating to my Roth IRA again. What do you all think? Get rid of all debt or save a little first?

This was awesome to read everyone's replies. I sat down with my spreadsheet, worked the numbers and found that I will be able to max out my Roth IRA, fill my emergency fund back up and pay off my car loan completely by the end of next year - so that's the goal. I'll probably do split payments between savings and car loan as many suggested, and then roll over all to savings. Thanks so much again!

Office politics is like a game of chess. You mine as well play versus sit on the sidelines and spectate. It's very difficult to go against the culture, so if you can't abide by the rules, you should probably get out. People hold different power based on their position and influence. Know who the power players are and build alliances with them.

Each person that you encounter will act and react in a different way. Some work best by sharing some humor with them, others are cut the chase, no BS types. It's important to take into consideration whom you work with and their specific work style, and adjusting your approach accordingly.

Lizzie Pauker Being a part of a virtual team or being a virtual employee is an increasing trend in the workforce. Going virtual offers a lot of benefits but also has its downsides. Over the next week I will be critically thinking about virtual teams and invite you to join the conversation. To start, I want to know: what is the biggest challenge you've found working virtually? Also I setup a section of my house as my office (which is helpful for when I video conference in to a meeting!) and is away from the couch and TV and other distractions! I have a young daughter and she goes to daycare so I have the house quiet and can focus. I usually get more done at home because I don't have people interrupting me all day (we have open desks, so no cubes or walls).

Tony Forte Do you know how much you're spending yearly on eating out for lunch versus bringing your food from home? There may be a "Lunch Is Too Damn Much" party starting soon. TOP IDEA: L. Marie Joseph I know you already heard the spill, save money, invest in your 401k, and get out of credit card debt. Some financial gurus will even tell you don’t spend money on anything unless you’re out of debt! Huh? My mantra is: Do what fits your personal situation. In some aspects people come first instead of money as Suze Orman says http://to.ly/5xQN

Penelope Trunk I am starting to think that we can have only one goal at a time. We have the things we do to keep our life going -- to keep the status quo. And we have one goal that is a game changer. Hard to handle more than one game changer. And maybe we shouldn't be bogged down by calling stuff a goal that is really maintenance. What do you guys think? Or maybe I'm just toying with the idea of being an underachiever.

Instead of having one's attention diluted by too many commitments, you have your mental resources focused on just one. I've done this my self on a big project I've worked on and I don't regret not doing the things I didn't do for a minute. It gave me plenty of time and energy to focus on the big things that really matter.

Scott Keegan: I agree Penelope. Too many goals is like trying to multi-task, and our brains are just not wired that way. Also, many people confuse tasks for goals.
