Jason H. Parker
Jason H. Parker, here, and I'm working right now on creating a strong personal brand. The next step I have will be creating and starting my blog, and I am in process right now. I need, however, advice as I move forward. What are some tips of maintaining a strong personal brand as a blogger--and how do I craft a succinct and meaningful message?
Thanks for the help!

Be you and always convey you and your personality through your content, and be honest with others. People are highly attracted to those qualities and it can do you a world of good, especially when you come from a place of caring. 117 weeks ago

This is a question related to branding and wanted to get your thoughts. Big brands out there are using social media to branch out and connect with their customers, as well as add another income stream to their business. What do you think about big brands adding a personal voice to their brand? Is it very important and much more effective? Or is it okay for them to just speak as they normally would?

The idea should be to create more intimate relationships with the consumers and then the revenue stream is essentially second nature. But, what matters is does the consumer feel all fuzzy inside because of this personal attention. In most cases, yes. Whether it's a marketing technique or not I'd rather have the large brands speak to me directly versus them speaking down to the masses. 118 weeks ago

Social media marketing allows brands to interact intimately with consumers and address them as two people who are trying to resolve a problem, not a big corporate brand speaking to the little guy.
TweetDeck and Hootsuite have proved to be invaluable resources for my company and others who have tweeted/posted about these resources. Speaking and engaging with people in simple language, in real-time is the most effective and efficient marketing tactic out there today. 117 weeks ago

Do you agree? "With social media, we can achieve the most when we work towards a common goal: helping others through positive engagement. Don't get caught up in the negativity. It not only looks bad but can cause you to lose followers and influence with your audience."

And I would add to the commonly-understood definition of positivity the word "productive." Social media as a strictly social tool isn't very interesting, or empowering, or efficient; I think the early impressions of social networking (Friendster, MySpace, et al) have negatively influenced how our employers, parents and older associates view the power and use of social media as well.
I like to view it as teamwork: give a little, get a little. Except the entire world is potentially on your team. I guess that sounds pat, but I'm a huge fan. Brazen Careerist is no exception (although it's arguably more targeted than, say, Facebook, which luckily helps filter negativity or purely social content). 118 weeks ago

I just wrote a blog on this called "The Power of Positivity." Feel free to check it out - http://nicklitwiller.wordpress.com/2010/02/15/the-power-of-positivity/.
We are all surrounded by negativity, but I truly feel that the ones that can inject some positivity into negative situations can thrive in almost any environment. 117 weeks ago
