I first argued that GOP Presidential debates should focus more on foreign policy and national security back in August 2011. I still believe more time should be spent to these topics--especially as our national defense faces the threat of across-the-board sequestration. Read my argument in "The Daily Caller" here: http://dailycaller.com/2011/08/13/presidential-debates-should-focus-more...

Congress does not enjoy discussing nuclear weapons. Who would? Yet they remain a fact of U.S. national security. Therefore, Congress must ensure that they are properly resourced, governed, and overseen. It's time to revisit reform of the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). I discuss options for reform in a paper published by CSIS's Project on Nuclear Issues (PONI). You can read it here (starts on pg. 17): http://csis.org/files/publication/111123_Jansson_NuclearScholar_web.pdf

Congress is considering painful budget cuts. Instead of sniping at one another, why don't soft power buffs and national security conservatives work together? Hawks and Doves Unite! You have only your budgets to lose! Read my argument in POLITICO: http://politi.co/iy8D6g
