3One of my objectives for 2011 is to really work hard at being a better communicator when I've assumed leadership roles. January's task: figure out how to best confirm that I've communicated responsibilities, deadlines, and expectations effectively. Asking open-ended questions like "What questions do you have?" and "can you paraphrase what we've just went over so I can make sure I didn't leave anything out?" have been the most effective for me. What are your techniques?

I am an Energy Advisor for a third-party contractor working with utility companies, municipalities, and state governments to implement energy conservation/efficiency measures in commercial and industrial platforms.
That's long form for: I get paid to help change the face of 'business as usual' through lowering energy costs and working smarter. It's pretty amazing.
