About Me

Markus Batchelor is a 18-year-old social activist and political commentator. He is currently a candidate for Democratic State Committeeman in Ward 8. He is also the founder and District of Columbia Co-Chair of YouthPAC, a DC-based Political Action Committee striving to give young people a voice in government and getting them involved in the political process. He currently serves as the Chairman of the District of Columbia Youth City Council under the Mayor's Youth Leadership Institute. Before that, from 2009 to 2010, he served as the District of Columbia's 52nd Youth Mayor, where he worked towards getting young people involved in civics, committed to community service and community activism. He is a life-long Congress Heights resident in Ward 8, Washington, D.C., where he is an avid member of the Ward 8 Democrats and is beginning to become involved in the neighborhood's community association and his Advisory Neighborhood Commission.
