I am a freelance journalist and editor based in Fremantle, Western Australia. I am always on the lookout to help someone communicate their ideas or to inform others and you can see my website at: http://www.marisa.com.au . I'd also be totally ecstatic if someone offered me an in-house job in journalism or publishing but I am happy to work freelance if you can't quite wrangle a permanent desk arrangement for me. ;-D
I write about games, music, science, health, environment, popular culture, and literature. I edit fiction, non fiction, academic work and general publications. When I am not working, I am writing a novel, playing a game, reading or working on someone's website for them. This usually means that I am pretty much glued to my computer screen.
I leave the screen to cook, dance, take photographs, socialize and play the drums very badly.
I generate story ideas, carry out research and interviews and write articles on science, health and technology related research in Western Australia for an online publication.
I am organising a national conference on editing and publishing in Australia. If you want to speak or sponsor, email me at convenor@editorswa.com .
I edit the articles for the publication diabetes Matters which goes out to the organisation's members.
Organised interviews for authors with media such as the BBC. Handled author queries. Prepared and handed out press kits. Took photographs of events, sponsors and participants. Ran social media presence with constant feed over several weeks.
