Kristen Murphy Hey all! This is my first day on BC and I have to admit, I'm a bit overwhelmed! Im a year out of college (BA in psych) and Im looking to go to nursing school in the fall, but can't seem to find a transitional job in the healthcare field. I've applied to hundreds of jobs, but since I dont necessarily have the medical experience yet, no one seems to be giving me a chance. any advice?

I've even heard of some hospitals doing this. That is below your education level, but perhaps an option to get your foot in the door. Maybe consider volunteering at a fire department as an emt, many pay for the training and then you have the certification and skills to help in your quest for nursing school. All the best to you!

Lori Dreyer Hi Penelope, I was or will be soon laid off. About 16 of us were let go and our positions outsourced to vendors. We were chosen based on our territory's not our performance. I was the 5th ranking performer..No.2 and 3 were also laid off. Should I say I was laid off? or outsourced in my cover letter? Should I even say this in my cover letter? I do mention my ranking in the ocver letter and my resume. Please advise! Thank you!!

Andrew Staltari So what are people's thoughts on the new application process, i.e. yes/no questions instead of the KSAs? I like the yes/no questions better despite there being 156 questions in some instances. I think the questions pinpoint what the agency is looking for in a candidate. In any event, I think the new format is promising.

Marci Farris: Have the KSAs been replaced completely? I think that is awesome - makes it a lot easier not to leave anything out that they might be looking for.
