TOP IDEA: Madeleine Lethaby To get my constant supply of knowledge and inspiration, I can be regularly found sitting in front of my mac with a cinnibon and glass of Athletic Greens (to cancel it the calories right?!) watching TED videos. As the tagline suggests (and I agree with) "Ideas Worth Spreading", TED provides a library of riveting talks by remarkable people - and its free to the world! Prepare to be inspired.... www.ted.com

Marsella Charron: I love TED talks and spent much of my time in Manila watching them. Very inspiring indeed!! Feel free to share your favorites!

Lindsey Sparks I currently have two blogs. One is a book blog that's more personal and one is a more professional one focused on marketing that sometimes veers off into leadership. I'm considering combining the two. Do you think that would be confusing and cause readers to ignore half of the articles or do you think that would be interesting? I don't like having them separate and I don't have a large readership on either (they're both fairly new & haven't spent a lot of time on that yet). What do you think?

I decided to merge the blogs and also to post random musings on other topics as well. I tend to like those types of blogs, so that's what I'll write. No, it's not niche focused, and maybe it won't work, but I'm going to give it a shot. I updated my About Me page and the rest of the blog to reflect this and hopefully it conveys what people should expect with the new blog. I also plan on keeping most posts shorter overall, and trying to make the book reviews about something larger than just the book (which I usually did anyway) so even if it's not a book someone might be interested in they could still enjoy the post. I have a pretty eclectic reading habit so there should be something for everyone at some point. And if not, I'll just rethink things. Check it out here: http://www.sparksmarks.com.

Madeleine Lethaby Hey fellow Careerists! I'm interested to hear your thoughts on Facebook "Like" promotions. One of my clients is trying to increase their fan base on FB and Twitter so were thinking of creating a competition (1 yr program with a personal trainer) where people needed to click "like" to enter and encourage their friends to as well. The more friends who enter, the better chance of winning. SO MY QUESTION TO YOU: is this an effective or ineffective way to build a fan base and create loyalty?

Yes, we do have a communication plan in place once we have loaded the contest. It'll include a bunch of content rich blog entries, videos, and guest contributors in regular bursts.

We have also appointed a Community Manager who will be monitoring comments/interations across all our channels (twitter, FB, blog, website, Youtube, etc) and will be highly engaged, personal, friendly and helpful!

We will have a really nifty FB app which contestants will load when entering the comp. The app will track 'likes' and friend's 'likes' which is simple to monitor.

As mentioned before, we have a plan wrapped around this contest to keep members engaged post contest.

Thanks!

Jamie Nacht Farrell I was never a huge "tweeter" - have the typical 1500 followers, but am starting to really like it (a couple yrs too late, right?). Anyways, I've always used Tweetdeck, but this morning found a couple things: 1) When I "add" someone on twitter, they don't show up on TD (I'm assuming I need to reupload all friends at some point? help? 2) TD is not / does not always show when people RT me. Any ideas / suggestions? Looking for something SIMPLE

Kim Luu: I use Hootsuite. It's very powerful. It also has reporting which Tweetdeck does not offer.

Ryan Paugh Guess what happened! We got a cease & desist order from a company/blogger claiming to own the words Rock Your Career. Maybe they're right, maybe not. Before our next video on Facebook (http://bit.ly/cWtoHb) we're changing the name to avoid any messiness that takes focus away from the Community. The question is, what will the new name be? Leave ideas & help keep the formerly-know-as Rock Your Career series alive! New video + new branding on Monday.

TOP IDEA: Mike Ambassador Bruny I figured fear out. Fear goes to bed really early and gets up late. What does it mean to us? While fear is sleeping early, make your plans; while fear is sleeping late, get up and do something before he gets int he way (get a least 1 thing done a day that scares you before you can think about it). Run the Point; from where you are, with what you have!
