I recently left my last job where I was a performance test engineer. Most of my job was to designed and run performance tests to find performance issues or tests scalability limits. This allowed our customers to plan appropriately when buying large amounts of hardware and also saved the time of our end users so that they were as productive as possible.
During the last 6 - 9 months while at my job I had moved to mostly Linux administration and that really isn't what I was interested in. I was told that my main duties likely wouldn't change in the short term so I decided to leave and spend my time doing what I love, computer programming.
I spend my time now networking, catching up on all of the great bloggers and most importantly sharpening my skills at the languages that are of interest to me now. My current projects use PHP / MySQL and ASP.net. If you have any projects that you are interested in and want feedback or an extra collaborator, feel free to message me.
Design and execute scalability tests for DB and client
Publish results through whitepaper and user groups
Gave customers an accurate estimate for hardware purchases
Manage and develop testing tools for scalability tests
Testing accuracy error decreased from 10% to 5% which gave better hardware estimates
Provide second tier support for customers on performance issues
3.4 GPA
Participated in NSF research program on analysis and combinatorics in between Junior and Senior years.
