TOP IDEA: Louis Gray Rapid consumption and comprehension of content is power. With more information coming at us from more places at an ever-increasing rate, we must learn to not only consume from multiple places simultaneously, but also improve our filters to find the best content and most relevant information. We should not be unafraid to stop bad habits or time wasting activity, to unsubscribe from off-topic sites, or exchange one practice for another.

Amani Roberts: Well said Louis. I agree. Stoping bad habits is the most difficult but not impossible.

One can save what looks pertinent to a better time when comprehension and research will not take time away from high priority tasks.

TOP IDEA: Louis Gray The best bloggers in the world today are those who are not just finding out new stories quickly, or getting the most page views. They are the ones who are taking unique angles, and uncovering new companies, people or ideas. It's not about making the most noise, but instead, doing what's right and advocating for your readers and representing yourself well.

TOP IDEA: Louis Gray Today's Web services simply move the collection of data to a new place, to be owned and manipulated by proprietary interfaces - whether they call themselves cloud or not. But this increases problems with data ownership and migration. In order for us to truly own our own data and its related metadata, these Web services should tap into our own personal cloud, enabled with our own secure credentials, and not store any of it locally. This would make us truly service and application agnostic.

Or has Facebook already gotten there? Facebook obviously isn't service and application agnostic, but it's becoming the defacto standard via FB Connect.

I like your idea, but wonder how it can be managed effectively without someone owning the data. Maybe we're too far down the FB path to go back.

Taking the facebook example, US law about my personal information now effects me as a Canadian. If I use an application via facebook connect in a yet a third country, lets say (offshore gambling) in the Cayman Islands who's law's apply as for providing access and use information in a criminal or civil suit.

TOP IDEA: Louis Gray I believe that social media marketing and traditional marketing will merge, as participating in new places becomes more accepted across all facets of companies. The idea of dedicating resources to social media will disappear, as it becomes core functionality of marketing, public relations, customer service and sales. In parallel, companies will cease to farm out online engagement to inexpensive interns, and take it more seriously as senior management increases involvement.

Louis Gray What are your first impressions of Google Buzz? I have been using it extensively, and was curious if it has a place for you in your workflow.

Christina Brown: It is a mess. And I also think Google Wave was over-hyped too. This is coming from a loyal Google fan. But companies make mistakes. It's human.

Ack! I think just following his tweets and being on his email list is a *gracious* plenty of attention to give even a thought leader, so I unfollowed him on Buzz.

Louis Gray: Google has made updates to Buzz recently that reduce the impact of following popular users like Jason. Try again and see what you find.

Jason Mollica Twitter has become a great tool for me to network and promote my blog. It also has allowed me to become a better PR person. Facebook is used for keeping up with friends and family. LinkedIn is strictly professional for resume/group discussions. Brazen is the place I come to offer advice and discuss great ideas.

105 weeks ago from Social Media

Louis Gray: I see LinkedIn as being for connecting to past coworkers, but Brazen is positioned to help you reach new people and opportunities.

: LinkedIn can also act the same way as Brazen if you explore all the features.
